Update from SWDNL Chair..
I’ve attended a meeting with our local MP, Active Dorset and England Netball last week. Thank you to Kelly Browne for all the hard work she’s done in the background to set this up!
All parties are very keen to support the resurfacing of the courts and have gone away to try to secure funding for this. Budmouth has also expressed their commitment to continuing the relationship between themselves and the league and have confirmed that their building plans do not involve building over current courts or using them for storage. Unfortunately, they don’t have any money in their budget to resurface but are keen to support our efforts to do so.
As part of this drive, it’s important that we, as a netball community, are showing our commitment to the project and actively raising funds to support this.
The committee will be holding various raffle draws, sponsorship and donation nights over the remainder of the season, as well as hosting a tournament and sourcing outside funding support, including a crowdfunding page, as recommended by England Netball.
We would very much appreciate it if your teams would support us as much as they can in raising funds, whether that be by buying raffle tickets, raising money within their clubs or donating raffle prizes etc. Sian will be heading up our fundraising efforts so please email her on [email protected] if you have any ideas, raffle prizes etc
I believe that we are closer now than we have ever been to have the courts resurfaced and that, as a community, we can absolutely work together to raise money to support this.
Our first raffle will be for 5kg of Coastal Cheddar!! Your chance to get hold of coastal cheese outside of presentation!!
