Huge Thanks to Coach Tom Williams for stepping in today with both Lee and Lee away ๐ It sounds like a fantastic morning of football all round!
Tom Match Report...
Today a depleted reds side took the long journey over to euxton villa for a friendly round robin with no winners or losers, just an opportunity to get warmed up before a long season ahead. With only 5 players at the Reds disposal team selection headaches was not a problem for stand in gaffer Tom or his glamorous assistant gazโฆ. Getting all 5 players through a morning full of football without any subs was going to be the challenge. Thankfully one of , if not the best attribute of the Lostock Hall Reds is a never say die attitude and fighting spirit. Couple that with some real quality on the ball in spells from our outfield 4 , we look like we had stepped up a gear from last season and raised the standards even higher. All 5 players put their heart and souls into every minute on the pitch the only downside maybe was that inevitably tired legs led to some missed chances in front of goal but heyโฆ thatโs football โค๏ธ
Sam: another fantastic tournament for our number 1, made some crucial saves in big moments, distribution out of his hands was 10/10 and looked composed under pressure with his feet. Made a cameo outfield in our third match and was outstanding with 2 goals and an assist coming in from the left:
Tournament output:
goals 2
assists 2
Efrem: who needs a back 4 when youโve got Efrem to do it all himself?! Solid as a rock at the back, read the game beautifully with multiple interceptions across the tournament and looked very comfortable on the ball to start forward play. Also Scored a couple of great goals and ran his socks of when asked to play up front and out wide to give our wingers a breather.
Tournament output:
Goals 2
Assists 1
Dara: Lostock halls very own Usain Bolt was typically industrious on the left wing ( and left back, and right back and right wing and centre mid and up front โฆ In fact everywhere but left wing ๐คฃ) for the entire tournament. Took a knock in the 2nd game which impeded his ability to go forward effectively with the ball but it definitely did not hinder his spirit as he fought tirelessly for every second ball. The last game in particular he showed guts and character to keep going against a very tricky right winger who he kept quiet.
Tournament output:
Goals 0
Assists 0
Ronnie: another great tournament from rocket Ronnie aka Ronnie Pickering aka the reds right winger! Put his absolute heart and soul on the line every time he crossed the white line today, he was up and down that wing like a prime Cafu. A similar story to Dara, Ronnie took a knock early in the tournament but because there was only 5 of us he bravely battled through the pain barrier to play some beautiful passes through to Nancy and on a different day probably would have bagged double figures himself. 3 assists across the tournament is a testament to his playmaking role today
Tournament output:
Goals 1
Assists 3
Nancy: selected as tournament skipper and typically set an exceptional standard with the ball at her feet. Calm cool and collected, It felt like the skipper had another pair of eyes in the back of her head today, finding passes nobody else on or off the pitch could spot except her. Bagged herself 4 goals across the tournament making her the reds top scorer for the day and even did a match at the back and was probably player of the match back there as well!
Tournament output:
Goals 4
Assists 0
Player of the tournament: Tom and gaz felt all 5 of our players today where outstanding at certain times throughout the tournament so all 5 of them โค๏ธ
Very proud day for coaches and parents alike, if todayโs tournament is anything to go by the reds are in for a hell of a season
Up the reds โค๏ธ๐ค๐ค
