June 2026 : Finished your marathon and wondering why you feel so tired, hungry, unmotivated or even a little flat?
You’re not alone.
For months your life revolved around training, long runs, early mornings and race day anticipation. Then suddenly it’s over.
What many runners don’t realise is that recovery isn’t just physical.
Your body is repairing muscle damage, restoring energy stores and recovering from the stress of 26.2 miles. At the same time, your mind is adjusting to life after a goal that has dominated your routine for months.
That’s why it’s completely normal to:
😴 Feel exhausted
🍕 Be constantly hungry
🏃 Not fancy running
😕 Feel a little lost
📉 Experience a drop in motivation
Recovery takes weeks, not days.
So if you’re feeling any of the above, don’t panic and don’t rush back into training trying to “make up” for missed fitness.
Rest.
Eat well.
Sleep more.
Reflect on what you’ve achieved.
The runners who recover best often come back stronger, faster and more motivated than before.
