Hi Guys,

Just a small update to clarify the rule's of speaking to your partner during the doubles games.
You ARE allowed to talk between shots,
you ARE allowed to touch the table both with your hand or cue and can continue talking to discuss shot selection, pattern play etc.
Once the person playing the shot has gotten down on the shot (i.e cueing up the shot, feathering the cue ball), the talking ENDS.
If they decide to get back up or change their minds about shot selection, they can no longer talk to their partner about it.
If they DO, it is a foul to be called by the referee.
To be very clear, the referee makes the call on this using their best judgement. Most of the time it will be pretty obvious if a player is going down to take the shot or if they are simply checking for reach, or hand placement for bridging etc.
If there is any doubt it is the referee who makes the final call.
This will be the rule until the end of this season at which point it will be discussed as to what improvements can be made.

News update. Every now and again I'm asked about a rule or sometimes I've just over hear a conversation about rules, this usually reminds me to post something, it's not usually an argument with the rules or disagreement, just a conversation.

I've asked Wayne from the pool committee if he could start doing this for me and he has kindly agreed.

The first one will be touching the table during doubles matches.

There is some confusion over this and I will except the blame, Wayne will clear this up over the next couple of days.

We have all pretty much got used to the rules now but if anyone is unsure about anything please let us know.

Sorry I've not posted for a while, maybe it's a good thing.

Something has come up, players cannot play for 2 different teams, this is a rule that has been in place for many years and all captains have been in support of this rule.

This includes venues that have 2 teams.

We have been extremely flexible when it comes to making sure there are no cancellations, including new players on the night, the amount of players needed to start a match and players moving from one team to another in unusual situations.

As long as it's a permanent move, no chopping and changing, but most importantly only with communication to the league, no one can decide to either leave a team and play for another or play for the A or B team due to being short of players.

Failure to follow the rules can lead to loss of frames or matches.

Just a reminder for all, we all want our pool matches to get under way in good time so that we can all go home to bed, get enough sleep for work the next day.

So out of respect to all teams and players matches please start by 8pm, if no show by 8-15 the home team can claim the first game, no show by 8-30 then the home team can claim the match.

There is nothing new here, this is the way it's always been.
