PTFC Girls Elite Goalkeeper Pathway 🖤

Really enjoyed being a part of the female elite pathway at Portishead Town for parts of last season and the beginning of this season, where I have been running weekly sessions for the goalkeepers 🧤

The club have created a program for girls in which goalkeepers within the club are able to continue to grow, develop further and progress higher and it’s been a pleasure to be a part of ⭐️

Really talented group we have within our set-up who push each other to develop through challenge within a positive and supportive environment 🤝

Please join us in wishing our excellent coach James a very happy birthday as he turns 23 today 🥳

Our newest member of our coaching staff, who has made a really positive impact on our students already with his enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for coaching goalkeepers 🧤

What better way to celebrate than with a clean sheet today as he starts for Portishead Town in their league fixture so if you see him during the match, be sure to wish him a happy birthday 🖤

It’s always nice to read the positive comments made by parents and carers about our goalkeeper program, our coaching staff and the environment we have created at Portishead 🖤

Our main objective is not only to improve and progress our students technical ability… but to help grow confidence and encourage self belief to give them a boost to keep working hard 💪🏻

The mission continues to develop the shot stoppers in the local area to create a pathway of self belief and confidence to allow them progress with their technical capabilities and help them to enjoy the game more 📈

Some action pics from a full house on Friday evening with all age groups in for training at Portishead 🧤

Practical demonstration is a key fundament element that our coaching staff prioritise when taking our students through their sessions… allowing for a visual aid as well as verbal walkthroughs 🗣️

Coach James and coach Lochaln leading the line with a circuit style warm up for both foundation and YDP age groups on Friday with all eyes on them ⚽️

Short clip from training tonight, where our foundation groups had a five station circuit as a dynamic and effective warm up 🧤

In small groups of 2/3, each station had different challenges and requirements which centred around set position, sharp footwork, handling techniques and explosive movement 💥

The ideal routine before our group training tonight to warm up the keepers, activate certain movements and prepare them for the drills ahead 👊🏻

A gallery of snaps from our evening session which centred around low diving and cut backs, really kickstarting the new season with the second training of the year so far ⚽️

Healthy competition brings out the best in goalkeepers 🤝

Here we have Jack and Jackson who have been testing and challenging each other in recent sessions and become infamous for their need to score past the other 😅

This creates the ideal environment for a keeper, where they have both developed with shot-stopping and their handling capabilities due to their peer wanting to score past their mate ⭐️
