Go team Scottish Coastal Rowing Association - SCRA for organising the cox training. Thanks to Lorn Coastal Rowing Club for hosting the on the water training.

So glad Appin Skiff could help out :)

Eilish Maclellan and Lou Johnson from the Moidart Skiffies got suitably salty and had a blast at the Coxing course practical session at Dunstaffnage this morning.

Huge thank you to Liz Mercer of Lorn Coastal Rowing Club for all the organising and rescheduling due to previous bad weather, and to Liz Furrie and Anne Purcell SCRA training reps, leading us out so well.
Pic of Eilish here in stroke position, bringing in Appin Skiff club's beautiful 'Nellie G'. Well done to all the newly trained Cox's!
A-l-w-a-y-s nice to be out on the water!

What a day! ⛵️

We rowed out in a flotilla alongside our friends from Lorn, Glencoe and Seil to give the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race fleet a proper Argyll send off as they left Oban.

There's nothing quite like being out on the water, oars in hand, watching a fleet of ocean racing yachts set sail on the next leg of their journey around the globe.

A truly spectacular sight, and all the more special for sharing it with our fellow coastal rowing clubs.

Huge thanks to Lorn, Glencoe and Isle of Seil skiffs for rowing in company with us. Days like this are what it's all about. 🚣

🚣‍♂️🚣‍♀️ Good luck to all crews heading to Ullapool this weekend for the Ullapool Coastal Rowing Club Regatta, especially our own Appin Skiff crew!

May the weather be fair, the psych be high, and every crew give it their all out there. Enjoy the day, look after each other, and row with pride.

Safe travels, calm seas, and quick oars to everyone taking part. See you on the water! 💪🌊

🚣 Our endurance crews are putting in the miles this summer! Last week they headed down to Balnagowan and back to Linnhe Marina, a fantastic 12k row. The goal? Working up to 20k rows by the end of summer. We love that ambition! 💪

If you're wondering why coastal rowing is such an incredible way to get fit, here's a little secret: it's one of the best full-body workouts there is. Every single stroke works your legs, core, back, and arms together; nothing gets left out. And that's before you factor in the sea air, stunning views, and great company.

Thinking about giving it a go? We row for all abilities, so whether you've never picked up an oar or you're looking to build your distance, there's a place for you. Drop us a message and come join us on the water! 🌊

We're a little late to the post, but World Ocean Day on 8th June felt worth marking. 🌊

This year's UN theme was "Reimagine", encouraging a shift in how humanity relates to the ocean, from exploiting its resources to becoming true guardians of marine ecosystems.

For us at Appin Skiff, that resonates deeply. Rowing puts you right in it: the cold, the wind, the waves, the wildlife, the silence. Seeing your corner of the world from the water changes your relationship with it entirely. The vastness of it. The privilege of being out there.

We're proud to do our small bit for the coast and communities of Argyll and Bute. 🚣

We have spaces left on our first aid course, which is on 30th May at Duror Village Hall.

**We are opening this up to the entire community as we need to fill the spaces. Everyone welcome, not just club members.**

We have sourced a local provider, Simon Well from Highland First Aid, who is going to deliver an “Emergency First Aid” course, which is accredited. The fee is £50 per person.

The provider has offered to cover hyper/hypothermia & drowning after the accredited course. This extra session will be open to all our members. This extra training will not be accredited, but will be relevant training for our members. This extra session will carry a donation of £5 per person to cover the costs of this training.

Would you like an up-to-date first aid qualification valid for three years?

We had the pleasure of welcoming a visiting rower from Row Porty yesterday for a trip down to Castle Stalker on Loch Linnhe, and what a morning for it. The weather definitely played in our favour, especially given what was forecast later in the day.

If you’re visiting the area from another club, do get in touch. We’d love to take you out and share a few of our favourite routes on the loch.
