Lansdowne - Dolphins 1-1

On a beautiful sunny day, we "travelled" to Ferndown for our 3rd post season friendly, against a team which we didn't know much about because they are playing in a totally different league.
Being a very early KO, I told the boys to be at the pitch only 40 minutes before. As I came closer, Lansdowne looked very professional. They were already warming up, and they all looked fit and ready to go. I said to myself.....we are in trouble.
We only started warming up 20 minutes before KO, as most of our players struggled finding somewhere to park, as the place was really busy. I wasn't very impressed with this, but Loren took charge and took control of getting the team ready for the match.
We welcomed Javi and Daniel for the first time in the yellow/blue colours. Also it was Will's second appearance for the Dolphins.
The first half was a very close one. Both teams tried to take the initiative, and tried to take control in the midfield. Not many chances were created by either side, but there was quite a high tempo to the game.
The same as in last week's game, we scored first, through Liam again. This time he scored from a penalty given after a foul on him. And the same as in last week's game, the equaliser came after an own goal. This time, Morgan is the unlucky player who scored into his own net.
Rich had a good save when one of Lansdowne's players had a very good shot from a distance. Javi, Loren and Ben FM worked very hard in the midfield, where it felt that the main battle was. Once again we played solid at the back, with Kacper, Morgan, Will and Pedro. Liam, Ben and Dean worked tirelessly upfront, trying to create chances.
1-1 at half time. We were happy with our performance. Javi came off with a slight injury and Kieran came on. Florin came on at the back, and Will moved in the midfield.
The second half I would say belonged to Lansdowne. They seemed like they wanted it more, or maybe they are just fitter than us. They had most of the possession as well as lots of free kicks and corners, but they didn't create any close chances to score. We defended well all together, but we didn't create much. Daniel played upfront, and he did have half a chance, but his shot went wide.
The game finished with a draw - possibly a fair result. We are happy with the score, as we played against a very well drilled team, with a winning mentality. Their scores in their league say it all.
Good luck to Lansdowne for the remainder of their season. They are a very nice bunch of guys.

With us, not much to say. We played well for the last three weeks, undefeated against strong opposition. Also, we had many players missing and still a lot of work to do.
Thank you to all who played in these games.

Squad today : Rich, Liam, Kieran, Kacper, Ben S, Dean, Loren, Pedro, Morgan, Florin, Javi, Daniel, Will

A rare father son appearance for these two!

Donhead United - Dolphins 2-2

In the second friendly post-season, we travelled to div 5 winners Donhead United. They had a great season, winning their division and also playing at the beginning of May in the final of the Dorset Cup.
Unfortunately we were missing a few important players again. Chip playing says a lot about the numbers we had available.
Still, our boys played very well, against a well drilled physical side. It was a very close game in the first half. Rich had a couple of great saves to keep the score 0-0, and after half an hour Liam scored with a cool finish after Pedro's long ball behind their defending line.
It was a good battle in the midfield, where Loren, Kieran and Ben S had a lot to do. Liam, Adi and Dean had a lot of running to do on the wings and upfront. Pedro, Amir, Morgan and Chip were very busy in the first 45 minutes. 1-0 at half time, and all together we were sort of happy with our game.
The second half didn't start very well for us. Unfortunately they scored twice in 10 minutes. First was a unlucky bounce of the ball which tricked Florin and he scored an own goal, and the second with a nice finish by one of their midfielders who ran beetween our centre backs, unmarked.
The last 20 minutes we looked the better team, with Liam missing a good chance when he tried to chip their goalie, and with Amir being tackled in the last moment after a great run on the right side.
We scored with 7 minutes to go. A long ball from Ben S to Loren, whose first touch allowed him to volley the ball over their keeper. Great finish.
Final score 2-2. I would say it was a fair result after a very good test.
We stayed for a drink and something to eat. It was a glorious day.
Thank you to Donhead for having us, and good luck to them in the Cup Final. Their are a very nice bunch of guys, and hopefully we will play them again in late summer.
About us, after playing the last couple of friendlies, I'm confident we will be competitive in div 5. Depending on a few things, especially our players' availability, we might have to look to strengthen our squad in a couple of positions.

Team against Donhead : Rich, Liam, Kieran, Adi, Ben S ,Dean, Loren, Chip, Amir, Pedro, Morgan, Florin, Octavian

Dolphins - Longfleet 4-1

After one month of training only, we finally played a game, even if only a friendly. Longfleet finished in a very good position in division 5, and with us getting promoted there it was a good test to see where we are.
Unfortunately both teams were missing some key players, but for us it was a good occasion to see Will and Octavian at work. And both of them played very well.
Octavian led the attacking line because Ben M felt some discomfort in the warming up and decided to help the team from the side. Will looked very comfortable playing at the back next to Captain Morgan.
In the first 15 minutes, Longfleet created a couple of very good chances, both times Rich saved us from conceiving with some very smart saves.
We dominated the rest of the 1st half. We started creating chances, and we scored three goals. Adi twice, and Octavian once. Liam got injured before half time, and Kieran moved into left back position. Mihai and Aaron started dominating the midfield, and the back four closed every door for our opponents' attacking players.
The second half was a bit scrappy, as the wind increased its power and it started making a difference in the game. Longfleet scored with a header, but then Adi completed his hattrick to make it 4-1. Well done, Adi!
Not much else to say about the game other than it was a good test and a promising result, even if it was only a friendly.

Thanks to all the boys for playing: Rich, Liam, Kieran, Kacper, Aaron, Adi, Ben S, Ben M, Mihai A, Ollie, Morgan, Will, Octavian

Our end of the 2025-2026 season awards presentation took place at Parma Pizza, where Nico and his team opened the restaurant just for us - thank you.
Every single player who took part this season and contributed to our success was there, and also a few family members. It was great to see everyone outside of the muddy pitches! Plenty of drinks and good food was the secret of a very enjoyable afternoon for the Dolphins' family.
Jeanette and Shawn from the Dorset Football League came to present our division 6 winners' trophy and medals. Their work and their colleagues' work is much appreciated by everyone. Many thanks to all of them for the time they are spending to run the league.
Andy and I also had a few trophies to hand out, after a short speech where we thanked everyone for their support and commitment over the last 12 months.
Ben M - for being the top scorer
Loren - for the goal of the season (against Stalbridge)
Rory - being voted by the players as the Player of the Season
Liam - being voted by the managers as the Player of the Season.

All together a great first season for us, and a very nice afternoon yesterday all together.

Now we are already looking forward to the next season - we have started arranging friendlies, and hopefully we will strengthen the squad with 2-3 new additions. We are also planning training sessions over the summer.

Once again, thank you to everyone for coming yesterday.

Division 6 Champions!!!

Last game of the season today away to Allendale.
We knew that with a win we would become champions, no matter what the results would be in the other games.
Even with important players missing, our boys were very motivated, and they controlled the game for the most part.
We opened the score when Ben M finished after a nice pass from Ben S. The second goal was scored by Loren from Ben M's assist. We could have scored more before half time, with Dean and especially Ben S having a couple of clear chances.
Solid at the back, with Kacper, Morgan, Amir and Pedro playing very well, Rich didn't have much trouble today to keep a clean sheet.
In the second half we scored again, when Dean curled the ball beautifully into the top corner, not giving their goalkeeper any chance.
Besides that goal, not much to talk about it. The pitch became soft, the game became a bit scrappy. Our boys completed the job, a 3-0 win to finish top of the league.
Great job from everyone involved with the team. It doesn't matter if anyone played more games or more minutes, everyone contributed to the success this season.
Chip and Andy would like to thank Poole Town Youth FC for their support, and every single one of the boys who wore a yellow or purple kit this season. We have a great group of very nice people, a good combination of experience and youth. It's been great that a few young players from our U17s team have showed they can compete in men's football.
Also special thanks to our sponsors for their support:

A1 Care
ODC Glass
Britannia Leatherbarrows.

We already started thinking about the next season. Hopefully we can keep everyone together, and if we find another couple of players to strengthen the squad, we will be ready to go again. Division 5 here we come - very exciting!

All these boys helped us out to win the league:

Rich, Leo, Matt, Liam, Kieran, Kacper, Rory, Aaron, Adi, Ben S, Ben M, Jordan, Dean, Loren, Chris, Amir, Pedro, Mihai A, Ollie, Morgan, Mihai C, Florin, Ben FM.
