One big illusion that we don't even notice is that come Friday, we have a tendency to 'treat' ourselves with maybe a takeaway or a few drinks (or both) because we've been

"Good all week!"

The fact that even if you have been good and stayed within your calorie budget Monday-Thursday, that's actually only 57% of the week!

I know what it's like, for most of us Friday signifies the end of the working week, then Saturday's is all about the footy, rugby, boxing or whatever

And Sunday is considered the chill day and snack out in front of a film or three

and the cycle continues.

If you're anything like me, the 3 days at the weekend is the time I consume the most calories. But I still have to reign myself in. Usually I'll cut down to 2 meals a day on those 3 days. That frees up a load of calories to do almost as i please.

The key thing that I do is I plan ahead.

If I know I have a heavy weekend coming up, I'll have some poverty days where I might eat 200 calories under budget each day Mon-Thurs.

That's 800 extra calories plus the calories I save by only having 2 meals a day Friday-Sunday.

I'm not saying that's what everyone should do, but it works for me. The point is that if you know you're going to blow budget, manipulate your calories to fit around it.

Alcohol has long been considered as

Because in that moment

It's probably the easiest thing to reach for

It requires no effort

And for a short time, it's going to calm you down when
you're feeling stressed

I say a short time...

The next day, you're likely gunna feel pretty sh*tty

You'll probably not gunna be particularly productive
either

and stress levels return

So what can you do instead?

Do something that is proven to also be a stress
reducer

but has much less negative implications

such as;

💣 Going for a walk

💣 Exercising

💣 Hanging out with friends

These are harder to do because they don't feel like
natural remedies to stress

they require a little more effort

Let's take a look at my client Ferhat's progress and how he achieved it in just 3 months...

Firstly, let's just take a second to appreciate the transformation he made. It's safe to say, he's looking awesome

Here are the 3 main things he focussed on:

1️⃣ First, we took a look at his diet. Although his diet wasn't that bad, his fat intake was a little high. Fat is calorie dense at 9 calories per gram. In contrast protein and carbs are both only 4 calories per gram.
We set him a calorie budget 400 calories less than what he was burning each day (calorie deficit). We reigned in his fat consumption to roughly 25% of the total intake and put more emphasis on getting more protein onboard
This gave him the freedom to still have plenty of variety with his diet, ensuring it would be easier to stick to for the long term

2️⃣ Secondly, his training. Using my exclusive coaching app, we built a plan consisting of 4 sessions a week. We made sure that each muscle group was targeted at least twice a week. Training isn't essential for fat loss but is essential if you want healthy looking and strong muscle tissue coming through or that 'athletic' look.
He also took up playing a bit of football most Sunday's with his work colleagues. Finding a leisurely hobby has numerous benefits that contribute to your journey; extra calories burned, it's sociable, great stress release, mental clarity, the list goes on. Doing something enjoyable promotes longevity and you'll be much more inclined to stay on course

3️⃣ Consistency and discipline. The toughest part. In order to become successful in anything, we will need to show up each day regardless of how we feel. Ferhat got himself into a great routine that had balance between work, family time and health.
Having a routine makes things so much easier and gradually becomes part of your identity. If you become someone who exercises first thing in the morning, eventually it will become natural as part of you routine.
Imagine this... At some point in your life, someone had to remind you every morning to brush your teeth. Then eventually it became automated to a point that you probably don't even have to think about doing it anymore. It just get's done. The same can be applied to any habit, even exercising!
Discipline separates those who will succeed and those who won't! We won't always feel like turning up, but the people who will succeed are the ones that turn up regardless.

Ferhat isn't a superhuman. He hasn't got 'gifted' genetics. He's just a regular guy like you and me
