Well… what can I say! 🥂❤️

I am absolutely over the moon tonight. WE DID IT — KINGSMEAD HAS PLANNING APPROVAL! 🏊‍♀️🥳

I just want to say a huge thank you to every single one of you for all the support, messages, petitions, encouragement and belief in what we are trying to achieve. It has certainly been a journey, with a few more hurdles thrown in our way than we ever expected, but tonight makes every single one of them worth it.

HDS really is a family, and Kingsmead has never just been about me. Yes, it’s about bringing this fantastic facility back into community use and creating more opportunities for swimmers, SEND provision and local groups, but it’s also about our team and what we can build together. More swimming, more opportunities, more jobs and another place for our HDS family to grow. That means such a lot to me.

The biggest shout-out has to go to Danielle.

She came on board as our architect at the beginning, probably thinking this was going to be a relatively straightforward project… little did she know what she was letting herself in for!

Danielle has been so much more than our architect throughout this. She has been a friend, a sounding board and an incredibly measured, supportive and professional presence through some very challenging moments. Late-night emails, early-morning emails, endless phone calls, meetings, changes and yet another thing being thrown at us — she has genuinely gone above and beyond.

We’ve worked as a real team throughout this, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better alongside me.

Tonight, though, we celebrate. 🥂

Thank you, everyone. I am absolutely delighted, relieved and incredibly excited about what comes next.

Kingsmead Leisure… here we come! 🏊‍♀️❤️🥂
