1. ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ฐ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ฌ - I just thought I was really hot. It didnโ€™t happen every night it would come and go.

2. ๐๐จ๐ญ ๐›๐ž๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ž๐ž๐ฉ - Usually happened every month for a couple of days anyway so I just thought it was happening more often because I had so much on with work and life.

3. ๐…๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ฎ๐ž - Thought it was just because I was so busy but when it got worse I was convinced it was my thyroid so I got tested which came back okay. It didnโ€™t get any better so I paid private for blood tests as I was convinced something else was wrong but confirmed I was peri-menopause.

4. ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐›๐จ๐๐ฒ ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง - I am now holding more body-fat around my stomach and hips. I put this down to not training consistently and my body composition is just changing.

5. ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž ๐š๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ, ๐ฉ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ - I just thought after years of weight training and lack of stretching and doing mobility exercises recently it was because of that.

I didnโ€™t put all the symptoms together to come to the conclusion because at the time I was under the age of 40. It was the Nurse taking my bloods asking me if I was peri-menopausal and of course I said NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Then she started asking me questionsโ€ฆ. Do you have night sweats, irregular mensural cycle, fatigue and every question the answer was yes and then the penny dropped lol.

Peri-menopause can start in your 30โ€™s like me age 38 but the most common age is mid to late 40โ€™s.

During this time what you used to do when it comes to health and fitness may no longer work for you so you have to take a different approach.

What does thriving during menopause mean to you?

To me it meansโ€ฆ.
โ€ขGoing a whole day without needing a nap
โ€ขHaving the energy to get through a whole boxing / kickboxing 1-2-1 session
โ€ขA night where I donโ€™t wake up 7-8 times and actually felt like I slept
โ€ขHave the concentration to work and sit down and write a whole training plan

What am I doing differently -
โ€ขMoving my body regularly even when I donโ€™t feel like it
โ€ขHired a Boxing / Kickboxing Trainer 2 x a week to push me more than Iโ€™d push myself
โ€ขFigured out what was missing in my diet and added in daily supplements
โ€ขKeeping a symptoms journal and a food diary log
โ€ขBeing consistent with an evening routine

Every woman going through peri-menopause / menopause struggle with different symptoms so telling everyone to do the same thing wonโ€™t work for everyone as it isnโ€™t a one size fits all.

Menopause Coaching isnโ€™t a one size fits all as it is totally dependant on the person.

8 years ago I officially launched Lift Fitness.
1st March 2017 was the first day as a Personal Trainer in Simply Gym in Cwmbran.
I am now going into the third year of owning my own private PT studio in Cwmbran.

According to several fitness industry sources, around 80% of Personal Trainers do not make it past the two-year mark in their careers, meaning only about 20% remain active as Personal Trainers after two years.
I was going to make sure I was part of the 20% that did make it past 2 years.

Thank you to all past and present clients because without you I wouldnโ€™t have lasted 8 years.

Decided last week to do a fat loss phase for a photoshoot in a few months to get a little leaner.

Full week in a calorie deficit being consistent and things have started moving already.

Changes -
* 25% calorie deficit a day
* Having 4 meals instead of snacks so Iโ€™m fuller
* Steps up from 10-12,000 to 15,000 a day
* Training 6 x a week d**g shorter sessions in the studio
* Tracking on weekends instead of winging it

I didnโ€™t do anything special I was just consistent all week.
