Garw Valley Tennis Club Established in 1927, the Garw Valley Tennis Club is one of the oldest tennis clubs in the South Wales valleys. New members are welcome.

For nearly 70 years, Viv John has been at the heart of the Garw Valley Tennis Club, dedicating her time, passion, and energy to the community she loves. Her connection to the club began in childhood, learning the game under the guidance of her father, who coached there long before her. Viv proudly continued his legacy, later coaching her own children and grandchildren, making her family a remarkable four generations deeply rooted in the club's history.

For the past 40 years, Viv has volunteered tirelessly in both coaching and the day-to-day running of the club.

Viv embodies the true spirit of citizenship: service, generosity, legacy and a lifelong commitment to enriching her community. For these reasons, she is a deeply deserving nominee for the Citizen Award.
