⚽ PRE-SEASON STARTING NEXT WEEK ⚽

After a season that ended with silverware, attention now turns to the hard work ahead.

Our first pre-season session takes place on Tuesday 16th June, and we’re looking forward to getting the lads back together and setting the standards early.

⏰ Thursdays: 6:30PM - 8:00PM
📍 Central Park, Plymouth

We’re always keen to add quality to the squad and would love to hear from players who have experience at a decent level and are looking for competitive football, good standards and a great group to be part of.

⚽ PRE-SEASON FIXTURES ARE HERE.

After announcing our return to training earlier today, we can now confirm the full SB Oak Villa 2nds pre-season fixture list ahead of the new campaign.

A strong mix of games lined up against good opposition, with chances for returning players and new faces to get involved as we prepare for another season.

From local derbies to tough away trips, there’s plenty to look forward to… and of course, the most important fixture of all:

☀️🍺 25th July - Benidorm (A)

No tactics board. No shin pads. Just sun and beers for 4 days straight.

Pre-season officially gets underway on Tuesday 16th June, with training sessions every:

📍 Tuesday | 8-9PM | Manadon Sports Hub
📍 Thursday | 6:30-8PM | Central Park, Plymouth

We’re still looking to add a few players into the squad. Good attitude, commitment and experience at a decent level preferred. If this sounds like you, message the page if you’d like to come along to training and get yourself involved 💪🏼

⚽ PRE-SEASON TRAINING | SB Oak Villa 2nds

After ending the season with silverware and finishing strongly in the league, attention now turns to pre-season. Time to get the fitness back up, sharpness back and standards set early.

Our first session back is Tuesday 16th June and all current players, new faces and anyone looking for a new challenge are welcome along. We’ve already got a strong core group, but we’re looking to add a few players with experience at a decent level who want competitive football, good standards and a solid group around them.

⚽ 2025/26 SEASON REVIEW | SB Oak Villa 2nds

What a season from the lads.

After a rough start to the campaign struggling for form and consistency, the boys started to click coming into Christmas and found real form after Christmas, ending the season flying.

From heavy defeats against sides like Morley and Uni earlier in the year, to ending the season beating them both to lift silverware and with only 1 loss in our final 8 games… massive credit to everyone involved.

🏆 Premier Cup Winners
⚽ 100+ goals scored across all competitions
🔥 Big wins against Lydford, Future Stars, Uni and Morley when it mattered
💚 One proper close-knit group from start to finish

The turnaround after Christmas was quality. The lads started believing in themselves, performances improved massively and the goals started flowing.

Top scorers for the season:

Jake Maloney – 30 goals (2nd top scorer in the league)
Tom Brannon – 16 goals
David Minhinett – 14 goals
Max Jackson - 10 goals

Big well done to the rest of the lads getting key goals across the season, ending with 18 different scorers showing how hard everyone works to chip in.

From getting beat 9-3 & 7-0 (the only game we didn’t score in) by Morley earlier in the season… to beating them 4-2 in a cup final. Football’s a funny old game.

Big thanks to everyone who supported us this season, travelled to games and stuck with the boys through the highs and lows.

Thanks also to the gaffers Jared and Arran, and to club Chairman Mark Davies behind the scenes making it all possible.

A big thank you to Justin and Amanda Carney for sponsoring our kit in memory of Kyran Carney , and supporting the lads throughout.

⚽ FULL TIME | Lydford Foxes 0-4 SB Oak Villa 2nds

We finally got this fixture played at the fourth attempt, and in 25 degree heat the lads still put in a top performance to end the league season in style.

The opener came after Jackson won his header to play Davies in behind. Davies then squared it across for Brannon to tuck away calmly.

1-0 HT

Brannon grabbed his second early in the second half, sweeping the ball home from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner.

Jackson then got himself on the scoresheet, reacting quickest after the keeper could only parry a Loftus effort. Leftie. Stanch 🤥 👀. That takes the skipper into double figures for the season with 10 goals 👏

The final goal wrapped it all up nicely, as Davies slipped Maloney through one on one. The Lydford centre back ended up on the floor after trying to recover, and Maloney calmly slotted past the keeper to make it four.

Shout out to Loftus and Johnson for stepping up and sharing the goalkeeping duties as Melmoth pulled his hammy in the warm up 🍆

Fair play to Lydford who didn’t stop running and didn’t give up, we wish them the best for next season.

A strong way to finish the league campaign from the boys 💚💛

⚽ NEXT MATCH | Lydford Foxes vs SB Oak Villa 2nds

FOURTH time lucky… we finally (fingers crossed) will get this fixture played on Saturday as we travel to face Lydford Foxes in our final game of the season, looking to build on last week’s cup final win and finish the campaign strongly.

📅 Saturday 23rd May
⏰ 2:30PM Kick Off
📍 Ashbury Hotel Astro, Okehampton

After three postponements and a venue switch that adds another 40 minutes onto the journey, the lads are probably just relieved to finally get the game on. With 26 degree weather forecast, thankfully there should be no danger of another “waterlogged pitch” this time… 😁

Minhinett misses out through suspension after the final, while Melmoth returns in goal with Bear unavailable. Sturrock, Jones, Jeffcoate, Smith and Oxford all come back into the squad, giving the boys plenty of quality and depth across the pitch.

One last push for the season. Let’s finish it properly 💚💛

Morley Rangers 2 - 4 SB Oak Villa 2nds

The boys get it done. What a way to end the season.

We’ll do our write up like normal as we aren’t sure that Morley will…

⚽ 1-0 | Maloney opens the scoring in unbelievable fashion, whipping a corner straight in and catching everyone out to give Villa the perfect start.

⚽ 1-1 HT

⚽ 2-1 | Bear launches a long ball forward and Maloney reads it brilliantly, gets across his man and calmly curls it into the right side netting.

⚽ 2-2

🚀 3-2 | With the game in the balance, Maloney picks the ball up on the edge of the box, shifts it onto his right foot and curls an absolute worldie into the bottom corner. Proper cup final goal.

By this point Morley completely lost their heads and eventually both a player and their manager saw red after completely losing control on the touchline.

⚽ 4-2 | As Morley pushed forward, Davies gets slipped through on goal and calmly fires it in at the near post to seal it and spark massive celebrations from the lads and supporters behind the goal.

Massive credit to every single player involved this season. Proper team effort from start to finish.

Special mention to Jake Maloney who picks up Man of the Match after a hat trick in a cup final. Serious performance. Josh Colman absolute rock at the back too
