📣📢 GAME DAY RESULT 📢📣
Last weekend marked the first of our final five home games of the season… and it delivered drama in waves 🌊⚽️
We welcomed league leaders Elm Fusion Ladies to Millbay Park on a warm Sunday, with barely a whisper of breeze in the air. From the first whistle, we came flying out the blocks, piling on early pressure and knocking at the door with attack after attack. Elm stood firm though, defending resolutely to keep things level at 0–0.
The breakthrough came after a brief stoppage and a tactical tweak from the visitors. A powerful shot was brilliantly saved by Holly, but we hesitated for a split second, and Elm reacted quickest, sneaking the rebound in at the back post from a tight angle.
That goal shifted the tide slightly, and Elm began to press. Credit to our defence, who dug in deep and held the line with real determination to keep it 1–0 going into half time.
We aimed to restart the second half with the same fire, but Elm struck again from a corner to double their lead. Soon after, a difficult bounce and an unfortunate stumble allowed their striker a simple finish for a third.
At 3–0, it would have been easy to fade… but this team doesn’t do quiet exits.
A change in shape and the introduction of two strikers lit a spark 🔥 We pushed forward relentlessly and were rewarded when Ellie Cranch found the net to pull one back. Momentum shifted, belief grew louder, and soon after Cerys Morgan added a second to bring us right back into it.
The final minutes were all Drake pressure, waves of attack crashing forward as we chased the equaliser. You could almost feel it hanging in the air… but the final whistle arrived just a touch too soon.
Full Time: Drake 2–3 Elm Fusion
A fiercely contested game, end-to-end football, and a real showcase of the quality and competitiveness in the women’s game. Huge credit to both sides and a proper tactical battle between the two managers.
We wish Elm Fusion all the best as they push for the title.
Next up, we return home in two weeks to face Tavistock 🔜

🌟 Player of the Match: Saskia Congdon
What a performance. Our defensive unit worked tirelessly, but Saskia stood just that little bit taller on the day.
Operating at left back against tricky wingers, she was relentless. Her reading of the game, positioning, and timing in tackles were outstanding. Time and again she forced attackers wide, got crucial touches in, and never shied away from the physical battle.
A complete display full of grit and intelligence, capping off a season of huge improvement. A well-earned 9/10 performance and fully deserving of the vice-captain role on the day.
Congratulations Saskia 👏 proudly sponsored by South West Bathrooms

🗣️ Manager’s Comments – Cohen
“After going down 3–0, I couldn’t be prouder of the girls today. The clock was against us, but we showed real character. Now we go again and push to win our remaining games.”
