π¨ NEW SIGNING ANNOUNCEMENT β HAYDEN COLES π¨
Wellβ¦ the secretβs out! ππ₯
Weβve announced him as part of our coaching setup, youβve already seen him putting the lads through their paces throughout preseason, and now we can confirm that Hayden Coles has officially signed for Tamar Saracens as a Player/Coach for the 2026/27 season. βοΈπ
Hayden has already been setting the standards high on the training pitch, bringing energy, experience and a real focus on developing the players around him. But he certainly hasnβt joined Sarries just to stand on the touchline!
π THE PLAYER
Hayden brings a serious rugby pedigree to The Parkway.
π΄ 7+ years representing Devon, from U15 level right through to senior county rugby.
β« Played the majority of his club rugby at Ivybridge, where he was part of a side that achieved back-to-back promotions, eventually reaching National 3 rugby.
π’ And versatility certainly isn't an issue...
Preferred positions:
π Back Three
π Back Row
π 9 / 10
Basically, give him a shirt and he'll find somewhere to play! π
β FAVOURITE PROFESSIONAL PLAYER β HENRY SLADE
Hayden grew up playing alongside Henry Slade, with the pair focusing on an unpredictable style of rugby and developing a high skill set.
Watching Slade take those same attributes onto the international stage remains a huge inspiration to Hayden today.
β€οΈ WHY SARRIES?
For Hayden, Tamar Saracens isn't just another rugby club. There's history here.
His father, Adrian Coles, introduced him to senior rugby at the ripe old age of 15, when Adrian and Molly Mallone were coaching at Sarries.
Hayden started at fullback with some fairly straightforward instructions:
Use your speed. Use your fitness. Aim for space... and MY GOD, STAY AWAY FROM CONTACT! π
Playing alongside seasoned senior players quickly taught him both sides of rugby β the hard, robust nature of 30 blokes going to battle on the pitch, followed by the respect, friendship, a well-earned pint and a proper sing-song afterwards. π»πΆ
And that's exactly what Hayden wants to help bring back to The Parkway.
"I hope by being part of Tamar Saracens, the underdog club, we can develop as players and reignite a once-great social club β where the lads work hard for each other on the pitch, enjoy every victory and potential loss, but would gladly do it all over again week in, week out with the best blokes in the South West!"
That mentality sums up exactly what we're trying to build.
A club that works hard.
A club that develops people.
A club that enjoys its rugby.
And, most importantly, a club people genuinely want to be part of.
Hayden has already made a massive impact throughout preseason and we're delighted that he'll be pulling on the Sarries shirt as well as helping lead from the coaching side.
Welcome β or perhaps more appropriately, welcome back β Hayden! β€οΈπ€π
Because, as the man himself says...
RUGBY IS MORE THAN JUST A GAME!!! π
