Exciting times!
A STATEMENT FROM DRAKE JUDO CLUB
Drake Judo Club is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in its journey towards excellence in martial arts as it transitions to a full-time dojo. The move represents a commitment to providing an enhanced training experience for its members and further solidifies the club's dedication to the development of judo within the community. It also presents an a further oppotunity for our members to study additional grappling martial arts such as Brazillian Ju-jitsu (BJJ) and Submission Grappling
The decision to establish a full-time facility has been 4 year journey which comes as a result of the club's growing success and increasing demand for high-quality training. The new dojo will be located at 156 Exeter Street, (Pictured) Our members and volunteers will hopefully be coming together to help make our new dojo a space with state-of-the-art facilities, providing a 6000 sq ft dedicated space for practitioners of all ages (with its traditional focus on junior players) to embrace the art of judo.
The expanded training schedule will now allow Drake Judo Club to offer a wider range of classes, accommodating both beginners and experienced judoka. The club remains dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, where members can develop not only physical prowess but also discipline, respect, and a strong sense of community.
Drake Judo club will become a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) continuing our history of being member owned and not for profit
Ross Taylor, Chairman at Drake Judo Club, expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating, "This transition to a full-time dojo is an exciting chapter for our club. It signifies our commitment to providing the best possible training environment for our members, ensuring that they have the resources and support they need to excel in the art of judo. We look forward to welcoming new and returning members to our upgraded facility."
It is envisaged that the month of March will be used to decorate the facility with classes beginning in April. More specific details will be released soon.
