FIRST LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON

Elburton Villa 2–5 Elm Fusion Ladies

First league game of the season and after all the sunshine, it was nice to finally see a pitch with some green grass on it! 😂🌱

Elburton started strongly and took the lead, getting in behind our defence and calmly slotting home a 1v1

But Fusion responded brilliantly with three well worked goals before half-time. 🔥

⚽ GOAL – ABI
Abi worked her way in behind the Elburton defence and made no mistake, firing past the keeper to get us level.

⚽ GOAL – HAYLEY
A brilliant Maisie corner caused problems in the six-yard box, with Hayley getting on the end of it to put us ahead!

⚽ GOAL – ABI
Some neat build-up play through the middle, combined with Abi’s relentless work rate, created another opportunity. She didn’t hesitate, smashing the ball home for her second of the game!

⏱️ HALF-TIME: Elburton 1–3 Fusion

We knew the next goal would be crucial, and it was Elburton who got it a lovely strike into the top corner making it 3–2.

But in true Fusion style, we kept attacking and refused to let the momentum shift. 🧡

⚽ GOAL – ABI
Abi completed her hat-trick, reacting brilliantly after a defensive clearance and finding the back of the net to restore our two-goal advantage at 4–2!

Finally, Abi was brought down inside the box and Fusion were awarded a penalty.

⚽ GOAL – MAISIE
Maisie stepped up and calmly placed the ball into the top corner to wrap up the three points.

Well done to Mischa who made her Fusion debut, great first game. 🧡 ⚽️ welcome to the Fusion family

Going behind early, responding with three goals before half-time and then showing the character to push on when Elburton pulled one back a brilliant team performance and plenty to build on.

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

A tough pre season test against Marjons, who sit two leagues above us, but we were certainly up for the challenge!

A strong first-half performance saw us go into the break level at 2–2.

⚽ NIC – A superb strike from 20 yards, catching the keeper off her line!

⚽ ABI – Lovely one-touch build-up between Alexa and Squires, before Abi tucked it away neatly.

We experimented with a few things in the second half and Marjons took advantage, but we kept battling and created chances, hitting the crossbar twice.

⚽️PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY: WHAT A PERFORMANCE! ⚽️

Stoke Gabriel Women’s FC 5–9 Elm Fusion Ladies

What a shift from the team today! 🙌

Travelling away with only 10 players available, the team produced a fantastic performance, coming from behind FOUR times before an outstanding second half display saw us take control and come away with a brilliant 9–5 win!

The football at times was superb, strong link-up play, plenty of one-touch passing and some great movement going forward. Alexa showed brilliant vision in midfield, picking out some quality passes and helping us play through the pitch.

We caused ourselves a few problems defensively in the first half and struggled with Stoke Gabriel’s pace up front, but a tactical formation change helped settle things down after the break and gave us much more control.

What a debut at left back! A really strong all-round performance topped off with TWO absolute screamers! 🔥 A very well deserved POTM.

To score nine, away from home, with only ten players and after finding ourselves behind on four occasions says everything about the character and togetherness of this team.

Plenty to work on, but loads of positives to take into the new season!
