🏆⚽ WHAT. A. DAY. ⚽🏆

Today, Granby U9’s took part in a tournament and what a rollercoaster it turned out to be!

The morning definitely didn’t go our way, and going into the lunch break we found ourselves bottom of the group with just 1 point. But after that break, something changed… 🔥

The boys came back out with a completely different mentality and gave absolutely EVERYTHING for each other. 😮‍💨

They were encouraging one another, picking each other up, and hyping each other up throughout every game. The team spirit was something special to see! 🤯

🏆 WON THE FINAL ON PENALTIES! 🏆

Every single player locked in and produced their greatest performances to date. The battling, closing down, passing, teamwork and finishing were absolutely incredible. They played as a proper TEAM and fought for every ball until the very end.

To go from bottom of the group to lifting the Silver Final trophy is something none of us expected, but every single one of them earned it! 🥹👏

Our first taste of silverware as a team, and hopefully the first of many! 🏆

Honestly, shocked but incredibly proud. Well done Granby U9’s — you were absolutely brilliant today! 💪⚽

⚽️ ⚽️ MIDWEEK FRIENDLY ⚽️ ⚽️

This evening, we contested in a friendly match against Keyham Kolts!

Straight from the off, both teams were getting stuck in with some big hitting tackles and blocks, and this theme continued from first whistle till last. Any match where the ref only has to blow for a foul 3-4 times is always great to see, tough tackles but with no malice 👏👏

Ultimately we came up short this evening, but only by the one goal! Our kids stayed in the game and continued to ask questions of the opposition 💪 💪

There were great performances all over the pitch, with our no.9 bulldozing through the opposition time and again, and even finishing one of his runs off with a clean strike through the keepers legs 🥜 🥜

Our no.10 continued to showcase his ability to get the ball and twist and turn his way through crowds of opposition players and picking out some great passes! He bagged himself a brace to cap it off, the second goal being an absolutely outrageous volley from some distance, with his left foot! Best way I can describe it is Joe Cole World Cup 06 - if you know you know 🤩 it was an amazing strike. No.10 VERY narrowly missed out on the parents player of the match today, but it was essentially a toss of a coin, it could have gone either way!

The parents player of the match ultimately, and very deservingly went to our no.4. He was incredible in defence today, putting crucial tackles in all over the pitch and lifting the team, showing great leadership and encouragement, he was a real influence today!

Then we have our no.1, who is going to need a trophy cabinet fitted in his bedroom at this rate, as he continues to put in other worldly performances week in, week out. His diving, kicking, catching and sweeping were all outstanding again today, we’re running out of words to explain how good this young man is, considering he’s completely new to it all! Picking up the coaches player of the match and the oppositions player of the match, the Sky is the limit for this kid 🧤 🧤 🏆 🏆

Well done to these 3 legends, and well done to the whole team! The pieces are starting to fall into please, and once we tweak the last few teething issues, we will be a force to be reckoned with 🥊 🥊

🏆 🏆 DOUBLE TROPHY DAY 🏆 🏆

This week there were two worthy winners - for two worthy reasons 🤩

Firstly, our no.10 won his award this week for displaying some sensational skill on the pitch, taking players on, turning them inside out, sitting them down, nutmegs and all! But it wasn’t just the skill that was so impressive, it was the passes being picked out after the skill, which were on point! Great football and great tekkers, well done no. 10 👏

The second trophy - which we felt was necessary this week, was handed to our no.9, as his positive attitude, sportsmanship and kindness did not go unnoticed this week and could not be overlooked, and was so well deserved! Shaking his opposing teams hands during the match, helping people back to their feet, encouraging his team mates, he showed great team spirit ❤️ He also displayed some great running with the ball at his feet! Well done no.9, keep up the great work! 💪

🏆 🏆 LAST WEEKS AND THIS WEEKS PLAYER OF THE DAY 🏆 🏆

Last week our number 5 was incredible, earning this award deservedly, listening to instruction and carrying out instructions on the pitch, with great effect!

You could see the joy in his face when he realised he could do what was asked, and since then his confidence continues to grow. His improvement has been amazing.

Even his team mates were pointing to him before I called out the person receiving the trophy, which just shows that he had a great impact and made a great impression! Well done no.5! 🤩

This weeks winner is our defensive unit, no. 3.

What can I say about this absolute diamond? She is an attentive listener, who gives 110% effort in to everything she does. She’s an absolute joy, and a deserved winner this week, showing great listening and impressive skills, as well as being a rock at the back, as always! 🙅‍♀️

She will be leaving us soon briefly, as she heads overseas, returning at Christmas! I don’t know how we will cope without our star defender 😅 she will be missed greatly! She’s even polishing the trophy 😍
