MATCHDAY 4 (CHALLENGE CUP)

A great game for the neutrals, but unfortunately the scoreline wasn’t in our favour this week.

Despite almost half the squad being out the night before and turning up in some questionable states, the lads showed great resilience to fight our way back into the game on a few occasions and even take the lead, but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be.

Josh Gofton proving to be a real aerial threat from corners, getting himself on the scoresheet again. Adam Best with some good footwork & a tidy finish, not bad for someone who was still pissed…

A few errors ultimately proved costly, with Firkin Scholar clinical in front of goal and taking advantage of our mistakes.

We take the positives and move on into next week.

MATCHDAY 3

A very strong performance throughout, we dominated in possession, won our battles and created a lot of chances.

A lot of good individual performances and some neat football being played by the lads in purple.

Adam & Liam both grabbing themselves a hat-trick, Jordan providing some key assists and finishing one of his five chances, Mig grabbing his first goal on his debut, Doddsy using his pace to get in behind and score, then Riley scoring a so-called ‘bicycle kick’ which definitely wasn’t an own goal… the game really did have it all.

Respect to the majority of Plymouth Crown kept going until the end, poor from your No.10 / Captain walking off in a tantrum not what you want to see.

We go into the two cup games next joint on points with Morley Rangers at the top, let’s hope we can carry on the positive football.

MATCHDAY 2

Another triumph from the Maurice lads today with plenty of chances created throughout the match.

We had a strong first half with 3 of our defenders scoring, a Liam Newell brace joined by Reggie & Jordan picking up a goal each meaning we went into the break 7-1 up.

Although dominating the second half we just couldn’t find the net with the game finishing 7-2.

Another good all round performance, things are definitely looking on the up!

MATCHDAY 1

We knew today was going to be a tough start to the season against a strong Ocean City side.

After Ocean City had a few consecutive corners they went into a 1-0 lead, we reacted with a well worked goal down the right hand side finished by Tom Harris. 1-1

Then after a lot of pressure Liam Newell got in behind and got taken down for a penalty, Alfie Higley stepped up and smashed it home to put us 2-1 up.

A slow start to second half saw us concede a volley from an Ocean City midfielder to bring the game back even.

With the game coming to a close and looking like the lads in purple weren’t going to walk away with a win, we won the ball on the edge of our area which was then passed onto Adam Best who shrugged off the defender and ran down the line to put a lovely floated cross into Liam who touched inside , took the shot anddddd hit it straight at the keeper but luckily rebounding back off a defender and going into the net.

MOTM - Riley Crocker, another solid performance at RB! The defence looks to be shaping up really well.
