It's a great opportunity to showcase the female football pathway at Elburton Villa — from our U16 Girls taking their next step in youth football to our Ladies team competing in the Devon Women's Football League.

Two teams, two important games, a chance to come together and support our female teams at Haye Road. 🔴⚪

Our clubhouse and bar will be open all through the day, so come down grab a drink and make a day of it🍺☕️

2nd league game

Tavi Ladies - 3
Elburton Villa Ladies - 10

2nd league game for the ladies and what a performance it was.

We started strong but creating chances, using the wide pitch to our advantage. We took the lead when Julia got the better of her player takes the shot, the ball rebounds and Abi collects the rebound to score 0-1.

We started to take control of the game and not long after Molly making her debut in the league takes on 4 players and calmly slots the ball away 0-2

We started to hold a high line, Abi picks up the ball from a goal kick turns the defender and puts the ball away for 0-3.

We had worked out staying high at goal kicks were working, once again Abi stole in from the goal kick rounds the keeper and slots it away 0-4.

Elburton kept pushing and breaking down the wide areas, Lily Hobbs collected the ball, played a lovely ball to Julia who beat the full back, Julia played the ball back to Molly to hit her shot low and hard 0-5.

The half ended with us really pushing for more, the ladies were in very high spirits.

We started the 2nd half as we finished the first half, Lily Hobbs played a great ball into Molly who's touch was amazing and went one on one with the keeper and scored 0-6.

We feel at this point we took our foot of the pedal as Tavi grabbed a goal back, a ball was played long for their player to control and slot the ball past Ruby 1-6.

Tavi then scored not long after this when a ball was played in from the wing and their player scored a lovely half volley 2-6.

Elburton made a couple of changes, Julia who had been superb broke down the wing took on 3 players and shot, the ball bounced around and Abi was first to the rebound to score 2-7.

Elburton were still staying high at goal kicks, Abi one again anticipated the kick collected the ball and shot to make it 2-8.

Elburton who had caused trouble down the wing all game and we won a free kick, Molly took the free kick and their keeper tipped the ball onto the cross bar, Abi was on hand to Volley the ball into the net 2-9.

Tavi still were not sitting back, they won a free kick ( which was hard to agree with), their player chipped the ball which Ruby tried to save but was bundled over the line 3-9.

Straight from the kick off Abi played the ball to Molly who played a long ball over the high line of the Tavi defence, Abi ran onto the ball and slotted it away 3-10.

The game came to an end very much after that goal, the ladies never stopped and played a superb game, this is their 2nd game and their first win for many of them taking their first step into Ladies football.

Well done to Molly for playing her first woman's game and to Lana who played her first game in woman's football in Plymouth.

Today was the first game for the ladies, on a very warm day the squad was ready for battle the result went against us but the Ladies gave their all and supported each other all the time.

Elburton started very bright and we were playing some lovely football, the ladies didn't look like they had only been together for 2 months.

We took the lead when we played some lovely football down the left hand side, the fusion defenders had a mix up, Abi stole in to steal the ball away from them and calmly slotted the ball away. 1-0.

We were creating down the right hand side, Julia playing her first game in ladies football was causing all sorted of problems for their full back.

However it was Fusion who struck next with a ball over the top that fell to their striker who calmly slotted it away 1-1.

Fusion started to grow into the game but didn't have it all their own way, they did take the lead from a corner that was played in and bundled over the line 1-2.

Fusion struck again not long after this when another long ball over the top and their striker got on the end of it and slotted away again 1-3.

This was how the half finished.

Elburton changed things in the 2nd half with a different formation to see how things could work.

Fusion at this point started to look sharp and started to gain a foothold in the game, however the defence and CDM in Crystal really did hold them back.

Then came the goal of the game, a corner was played in from Elburton, the ball dropped to Kyla who turned and on the half volley put it over the keeper and into the top corner to make it 2-3.

Elburton were pressing forward and were awarded a penalty, the penalty was missed which kept the game at 2-3.

Fusion played another long ball which caught the defence out and they slotted away to make it 4-2.

Elburton were pushing to try and grab a goal, when the ball broke and Fusions striker was brought down for a penalty, up stepped their CM to slot it away to make it 2-5.

This was how the game ended, a loss of 2-5 however does not reflect the game, there was some excellent football from Elburton today, on another day this could have been a different result.

Well done to, Tilly, Kyla, Emily, Julia, Caitlin, Mia, Lily Hobbs, and Sofia for your first game in woman's football, massive one is well done to Julia for getting Player of the Match, gave their full back hell all game and never stopped running.

Well done to Fusion on the win and we wish them all the best for the season.

We go again next week against Tavi, Up the Villa.
