A week to remember for Yaxley FC, two tournaments, two trophies! 🏆🏆

🟢 U6 Black | Boston Bears Tournament

Our littlest Cuckoos faced a proper test: four 15-minute games, searing heat, and not a single sub to call on. They won three, drew one, and lifted the trophy on goal difference. The heart shown by these kids was something special. So proud! ⭐

🔵 U14s | The Poacher's Cup, Boston Town

The young Cuckoos headed north for this prestigious 11-a-side end-of-season tournament. After a narrow opening defeat, they found their form in style; a 6-0 victory featuring a hat-trick from Lukas Dirzius and a brace from Eric Carvalho, followed by a 2-0 win over the hosts (both from Oscar Tee) to book a semi-final spot.

The semis brought a nervy rematch, settled only by penalties. Freddie Norman was magnificent in goal, saving THREE to send Yaxley into the final.

Facing Mid Lincolnshire's Catenaccio 🔒, it looked destined for more penalties, until Lukas Dirzius smashed home from a corner with four minutes left. An added-time own goal sealed a famous 2-0 win. Champions! 🎉

🎉 New Appointment | Reserve Team Manager

We are delighted to welcome Rob Ames as our new Reserve Team Manager!

Rob is a name many of you will already know - a former Yaxley player himself, he has deep roots in this club and this community, and it's that connection which makes this appointment so exciting.

Our Director of Football Scott Bogusz has been clear about the direction we want to take: "We continue to look to recruit people from the PE7 postcode, people who know Yaxley, who understand what this club means, and who are invested in its future. Following on from the addition of Matt Robinson to our first-team coaching staff, Rob's appointment is another step in building something really special here."

Rob began his coaching journey at Stanground Sports, Peterborough Northern Star, and Peterborough Sports before finding his home at Yaxley. He has guided a grassroots team through multiple age groups at Yaxley FC, building cultures of togetherness, high standards, and genuine player development - winning league titles and cups along the way.

Alongside his youth experience, Rob has been heavily involved in the men's game, giving him a well-rounded understanding of different environments, expectations, and management styles.

In Rob's own words: "I played for Yaxley in my younger days and I'm hoping to help bring success to the club again - bringing through the youth and helping them push on into men's football."

Last season, the Cuckoo called - and you answered.

Attendances up. A final reached. League safety secured. The call went out, and this community responded.

But we're not settling there. We want to grow and a club only grows on the back of great people. Fans on the touchline. Committee behind the scenes. Coaches and managers in the dugout. Volunteers giving their time, week in, week out.

So this season we've got a new rallying call:

It means what it says. No one person builds a football club. It takes every single one of us - pulling the same way, playing our part, turning up. That's how the Cuckoos move forward.

They say the best ability is availability. After the few years we've had, we reckon it's something else entirely - stability.

So we're delighted to confirm that Wilkins Makate will be back in the dugout as First Team Manager next season. The man at the helm stays put, and so does the direction we're building in.

Alongside him once again is Michael Allsebrook as Assistant Manager. Michael returned to Yaxley last season and played his part in steering the First Team to safety. He brings 17 years of coaching experience, eight of them at semi-professional level, with First Team roles at Sleaford Town and Peterborough Northern Star, a spell managing Kings Lynn Ladies clear of relegation, and time developing the Under 23s at Peterborough United Women before linking back up with Wilks.

Completing the trio is another experienced local man, Matthew Robinson. Matt, 33, is a UEFA B qualified coach with around 15 years in the game across a range of roles. His previous clubs include Peterborough Sports, Blackstones and Bourne Town - as part of the side that won UCL Division One.

A settled, experienced team to lead the men's First Team forward. We're looking forward to what's ahead - and we'll be sharing the pre-season schedule, news on our other adult sides, and season ticket details in due course.
