It is somewhat related to the previous points about not having frequency and volume (quantity if your prefer), but, thereโ€™s a twist to this one.

Even though youโ€™re putting in some work, you make some effort and let's say you do one weights session with a trainer in the gym, you might attend some group fitness and even go for a jog once a week, the chances are that youโ€™re still seeing very little progress. You might wonder why this is the case, or might even start to put blame on genetics, being heavy-boned, slow gainer or whatever else.

The truth is,and a very likely reason that even though on paper it looks like you have some frequency, sometime and sessions in your week, however, each of those sessions, serve a very different purpose and normally would be deployed as a tool to deliver a different long term results.

These sessions might make you feel good, might warm you up on a cold day, raise your metabolism a bit, and even help burn a few grams of fat, which is great, too.

They may also offset, to a degree, some of the damage you do to yourself though your sitting behind the desk work and your lifestyle.

OK, I get it, not everybody wants to become an Olympic athlete, strong man competitor or elite marathon runner.

However, I think, every man wants to feel โ€œlike a manโ€ when the time is right, be a strong supporting partner for his partner, be a strong and energetic dad for his children, be able to play football with his son(s), do piggyback ride with his daughter or hold all of them up to the picture in front of the Christmas tree.

Many of us want to be able to enjoy our lives to the proverbial fullest, spending time actively, going on holidays, participate in their hobbies, whether itโ€™s golf, surfing, skiing, climbing or skydiving, participating in the life of their family and children and making sure that youโ€™re here to see them grow up.

But, in my opinion, most importantly, everybody wants to feel energetic, strong, ache free, feel โ€œa spring in their stepโ€, be able to get through their entire day with zest and energy without crushing and relying on 4 cups of coffee to stay awake, and finally to feel good and confident about their physicality and physical appearance. Not to mention being able to fit into their suit or trousers from 2005 and perhaps use the belt and its same hole as when you were 20 years old. The good summary of this part could be of what the character played by Kevin Spacey in American beauty said: โ€œI want to look good nakedโ€.

There could be multiple reasons for why you might be struggling with some of the above, or would like to be able to do more of something.

I have to admit, I checked what other fitness and health professionals list as potential reasons for lack of results in training of their clients, or, I suppose, their prospective clients.....
