For about a week I’ve been trying to come up with this metaphor.
And I landed on dessert - (pancakes for reference pictured above).
I haven’t entirely lost it. (Yet) - Dessert is for me, what Asana is to the Yoga Practice.
Asana/Dessert, (delete as preferred), is always sweet. When it’s simple, when it’s elaborate, it’s always good. We love it, we have it all day if we could. It’s always going to give you that high, that rush, that sweetness. And we could argue a very valid part of the meal.
But - dessert alone will not sustain us (sadly). Just dessert does not nourish us, does not give us strength, does not take us higher.
We we have to add the nourishment. We have to complete the meal. We have to layer our practice, with intention, with meditate, with personal practice, communion & community. Things that sustain, nourish, and give us the strength when s**t isn’t fun.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always love dessert. Find your sweetness, but give your meal some nourishment. Cultivate a practice that will sustain you. That you can share to help sustain others.💚💙❄️
I’ll still be dreaming of pancakes, but I’ll be offering you some carrots and kale along side.
Just a couple more times to join me on the mat this week before I’m off on our December retreat this weekend! ❄️
My love, hugs, and vegetables
