Sunday the girls finished on a massive high, after beating Ellwood Ladies 3-0.
Another 3 points on the board, and a second clean sheet for our number 1!! 💪
Throughout the first half the whole team battled hard, worked hard and ran their socks off to gain a 3 nil lead by the time the half time whistle was blown.
Gemma managed to put us in the lead by slotting the ball into the back of the net. The goal came after some beautiful play by Leanne who was taken down by the Ellwood defence however, she still managed to pull off the perfect through ball for Gemma to run on to.
We welcomed back our left winger last weekend Tierney. Throughout the game she made some superb runs down the left hand side, helping to drive the team forward. T managed to gain a corner, which was taken by centre back Palmer. Palmer played in a low, hard corner which T managed to get onto the end of, and gained a 2 nil lead for us.
Our third of the game came from a great battle in midfield, with Gibbo winning the ball and laying it off to Cat. Cat drove forward with the ball skipping past several players and playing through a nicely placed ball for Gemma to score her second of the game.
The second half, the girls worked tiredlessly, whilst Ellwood kept up the pressure. However, the defence managed to keep the ball out of the danger zone, and if Ellwood did manage to break through Sophie was there to pull off several great saves to ensure she brought home her clean sheet.
POM went to Kayleigh this week for her endless battling, strength and determination at left back.
