Cup action again this Sunday

Excellent win for the boys today.

First half we were sloppy but in the second half we dominated and deserved the 3 points. Back to cup action next week.

Kelburne 4-3 Blackstoun United

The boys get the league campaign off to a winning start.

We started slow and Blackstoun had a few chances early but as the game went on we grew into it. After 25 minutes good play down the left between Ryan and Keats resulted in Ryan whipping in a delicious inswinging cross that Josh got on the end of with a side foot volley into the back of the net

5 minutes later we doubled our lead when JoJo picked the ball up in the final third, he picked out a pinpoint pass onto Josh’s chest and he brought it down and tucked away with a side foot finish.

Just before half time it was 3 when dinky made a bursting run through the middle of the park and JoJo was provider again finding the ball through which dinky provided a deft chip into the far left corner.

On the stroke of half-time Blackstoun were awarded a penalty but Super Tommy Boyd produced the save to keep it 3-0 at the break.

Very quickly into the second half it was 4 as Big Josh sealed his hattrick with a back post header following a cross from young Alexander.

Blackstoun got awarded a second penalty of the day when a goal bound header struck dinky on the arm from a yard away, very harsh call. Once again Tommy produced the save to keep the 0.

In the dying stages of the game as the boys tired Blackstoun done very well and managed to get 3 goals back but in the end we ran out 4-3 winners.

Kelburne 9-0 Pollok dynamo

The boys finished the season in style.

I wasn't there so have no idea how the goals were scored all I know was we dominated the game and pollok were reduced to 10 men for trying to spit on JoJo.

In other news we have guaranteed promotion in our first season as a club. The boys have been excellent all season and thoroughly deserve it. We would also like to thank everyone that has came down and supported the team throughout the season everyone at the club appreciates it.

Kelburne 3-2 Millbrae

The boys progress to the quarter finals.

We started sluggish and found ourselves 1 down inside 15 minutes as we didn't defend a corner properly and the ball back in fund a Millbrae player unmarked to slam home. We had a lot of the ball rest of the half but didn't make the Millbrae keeper work and we were grateful to Tommy who made a massive save before half time from a 1 on 1 to keep us in it.

Second half we came out the traps flying and levelled 2 minutes into the half when Josh held the ball up inside the box before passing it into Keats who placed it beyond the keeper with his right foot.

Just after 60 minutes Danny was brought on and made an immediate impact: he was played through by a brilliant ball from Josh before playing a great ball across the box for Keats to run onto and with his left foot this time put us ahead in the tie.

With 20 minutes left Rosco pressured the Millbrae substitute and won the ball off him before bearing down on goal and beating the keeper at his near post with the ball hitting the post on its way in. We then had the ball in the net through Josh with a great first time finished but it was ruled out for offside. With 5 minutes to go the returning Nixon found the returning JoJo but his shot from 25 yards went over. With 1 minute to go Millbrae got a goal back but we then seen the rest of the game out.

Excellent performance from the boys especially going a goal down and not panicking.

Another week another MOTM from the referee for Rosco. Absolute joy to watch him play the now. Genuinely running out of words to describe his performances.

This weekend we take on Millbrae in the last 16 of the champions cup.

The 2 games so far this season have been tough tests and the boys are expecting the same on Sunday.

Kelburne 3-0 Glasgow North

Kelburne run out convincing winners in front of a big expecting crowd. Today we took on Glasgow North knowing that if the hosts won they would win the league.

We got off to a flying start when 2 minutes in Keats won the ball high up the park and played in Josh his initial shot was saved but the rebound came back to him and he made no mistake to put us 1 up.

We then settled well forcing Glasgow North into long balls. We had a few chances but couldn't get the second goal with our best chance coming to Josh who forced a good save from the keeper when he shot low after great work and ball in from Ryan Miller. 2 minutes before half time Danny Fullerton who had given the Glasgow North left back a torrid time all game blocked his clearance which landed in the box Josh then feinted to shoot causing the Glasgow North defender to miss the ball and the keeper to dive before calmly passing it into the corner from 6 yards out.

We started the second half looking to continue our performance from the first half. Just under 60 minutes played Glasgow North were reduced to 10 men for a straight red for something said to the ref. Glasgow North then had a bit of pressure but we defended it well and with 65 minutes played Glasgow North were reduced to 9 men. We then started trying to force the ball playing long and looked a bit disjointed however settled and last 15 minutes passed the ball about well and created 3 or 4 clear chances but couldn't score. However with 10 minutes to go Josh played a superb through ball for Alex who ran onto the ball and rounded the keeper before finishing sending the north title party south. We then seen out the game with relative ease.

Easily our best performance of the season and delayed Glasgow Norths title party for another week. Every player was superb from start to finish and great to keep another clean sheet.

The captain was superb and set the standards for everyone he was all over the park and when on the ball showed his class and composure just to retain possession and drive us forward.

Kelburne 2-0 Gryffe

9 men Kelburne take the 3 points.

We started brightly and took the lead after 5 minutes when Jamie Cook powered home a header from Reece Gavin's corner. We then found ourselves under pressure and Tommy had to make a few good saves. With about 30 minutes gone Gryffe were awarded a penalty for a tackle outside the box. The resulting penalty and follow up were brilliantly saved by Tommy. A few minutes later Andy Mac was booted as he turned a gryffe player with the ref only given a free kick. 5 minutes from half time a Gryffe ball into the box was headed towards goal with Tommy making an excellent save the follow up was blasted at goal and Tommy got a hand to it. It then hit Travys knee and bounced off the post on to his hand with the ref deeming it deliberate handball and he seen red and Gryffe had another penalty. This penalty was blasted high over the bar.

10 minutes into the second half we were awarded a penalty when the Gryffe keeper took down Karim. The captain Rosco stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 2 nil. Despite being down to 10 the boys worked extremely hard and limited Gryffe to mainly long range efforts however Tommy did make a huge save from a 1 on 1 from 6 yards to keep us 2 ahead. With 10 minutes to go Karim was sent off for a similar tackle on Andy Mac in the first half leaving us down to 9 men. Gryffe threw everything at us and had a huge chance with 5 minutes to go but again Tommy was equal to the strike palming it away. We then seen the game out for a huge 3 points.

Unreal performance from him today in goals and thoroughly deserved his clean sheet. Whether it was shots or crosses he was equal to it all.

The whole team was outstanding especially after the sending offs the 10 men and then 9 men that were on the park gave there all.

Kelburne 3-0 Cambuslang

The boys got back too winning ways and kept a clean sheet in the process.

We started well on a very tight grass pitch and created a few openings in the first 20 mins. We then had a few close range chances from a corner that somehow stayed out. We continued to probe and kept creating openings but just lacked a finishing touch.

We started the second half very much like the first and continued to dominate but just couldn't find that breakthrough however with just over 60 mins played debutant Gav Lindsays corner was met by Andy Mac unmarked from 10 yards who bulleted a header past the keeper for his first goal of the season. A few minutes later some more good build up seen Danny play in Rosco who dropped the shoulder sending the defender into next week and fired low and hard in at the near post. We continued to dominate the ball with Tommy in goals a mere spectator mainly. With less than 10 minutes to go Andy Macs killer through ball found Zander who ran in and calmly slotted past the keeper to make sure of the points.

Both dominated the centre of the park ensuring we were in total control throughout. Both got on the score sheet as well.
