30 years in martial arts. A new chapter.
I started karate in 1995, aged 8.
For more than 20 years, I competed — kata, kumite, national events, international events, world championships and military championships.
My last competition was in February 2024 at the British Army Karate Championship.
Since then, this account has been quiet.
But karate has never stopped being part of who I am.
Before joining the Army, I taught karate in Oxted, Surrey. One of my former clients and karate students is still involved in running that club today.
So this next chapter is not about starting again.
It is about returning with more experience, more perspective and a clearer purpose.
Not just as an athlete — but as a coach and mentor.
I’ll be sharing more on karate training, kata and kumite development, grading preparation, returning to karate after a break, strength and movement, and one-to-one coaching.
I’ll also be offering competition video reviews: video-based analysis with a written report, feedback and clear points for development — the same structured approach I used for myself as a competitor.
I’m Alexandra Merisoiu.
5th Dan Shotokan Karate.
Personal trainer.
Martial artist since 1995.
This is the next chapter.
