Let’s get ready to wimple!

Early medieval Christian women covered their hair. This could simply involve wearing a linen or silk cap, but in public settings, (and if you could afford it) a large piece of cloth called a wimple was added. This was draped and pinned and could be quite voluminous. Here’s the women of Ulfhrafnar showing how respectable and pious we are. We’re channeling the nuns of Barking Abbey receiving a copy of Aldhelm’s ‘De Virginitate.’

Before new warriors can take the field at events, they train to pass The Vikings’ battlefield safety assessment. Here’s some of the components - safely defending against and controlling pole arms, following commands as part of a shieldwall, forming a boarsnout, safely tackling a berserker and finally doing some free fighting. Big thanks to Dominic King and Boon for testing new members and a guest last weekend ⚔️❤️💙💛

A recent open day for neighbours of Rumwoldstow Abbey - a stunning project by two of our members, who have built a cloister, garden and chapel on their land.
