FULL TIME | DEDDINGTON TOWN 0–1 WATLINGTON TOWN 🔴⚫

A superb performance from the boys, who dug deep, stood up to the pressure and showed incredible resolve to bring all three points back to Shirburn Road.

Jaiden Hawkins’ strike just after the break proved the difference, but this was a real team performance — bodies on the line, hard work all over the pitch and a determination to see the game through.

⭐ MOTM: Joe Hickman
Absolutely colossal at the back. Headed and volleyed everything that came his way and was immense from first whistle to last.

A big away win against a side we expect to be right up there this season.

Just one change from last week’s starting XI, with Alex Duxbury replacing the unavailable Reece Bruce in the back line.

Otherwise, we keep plenty of continuity from our opening-day win as we look to build on a strong start to the season.

The bench is strengthened too, with Dan Geggus, Ryley King and Kieron Woodland all coming into the matchday squad alongside Luke McAteer.

A tough test away from home against another side who won their opening fixture.

We’re back on the road today as the First Team travel to Deddington Town for our second league game of the season.

Deddington are a bit of an unknown quantity for us having made the move across from the Banbury leagues into the OSL this season, but both sides come into today after winning their opening fixtures, so it should be a really good test.

This is to advise that all football areas of the playing field are due to be fertilised on Thursday afternoon to aid grass growth and rejuvenation.

Please avoid use of the field until Saturday morning if possible.

We understand the product isn't harmful to dogs but precaution should be taken and hands should be washed if they come into contact with it.

Alternative arrangements have been made for team training sessions. Thanks for your understanding

SEPTEMBER FIXTURES 📅🔴⚫

After a winning start to the season in August, we head into September looking to keep the momentum rolling.

First up, we travel to Deddington Town, before returning to Shirburn Road to host Woodstock Town — both Deddington and Woodstock are yet to drop a point this season, setting up two big league tests back-to-back.

We then round off the month with cup action, welcoming Hanney to Shirburn Road on Saturday 26th September.

A big month ahead. Let’s build on the start. 💪

NO FIXTURE THIS WEEK ❌⚽

Due to grounds being unavailable because of cricket, our First Team haven’t been given a fixture this weekend.

Which means only one thing… TEAM BONDING DAY! 🍻

The lads will be heading over to Wallingford for a few (sensible) beers and an afternoon of team bonding. 👀🍺

Our Reserves were due to face Compton, but unfortunately that fixture has also been postponed after Compton’s pitch was deemed unfit for play.

So, a rare football-free Saturday for both sides — we’ll be back at it next week! 🔴⚫️

After finding the net FOUR times at the weekend, Tom Bowden has officially reached 100 league goals for Watlington Town FC! 💯⚽️

With club records dating back to 2014, Tom becomes the first player on record to reach the 100 league goal milestone — cementing his place in Watlington Town history as our record goalscorer.

An incredible achievement, and hopefully there are plenty more still to come! 🔴⚫️
