We truly believe that horses choose their people.
This is the story of our incredible Dave.
For years, Dave has been a huge part of life at The Flutterby Fund. He has helped so many of our special needs children, teaching them confidence, trust, and joy. He has made us laugh every single day with his cheeky personality, endless character, and zest for life. Even at 20 years old, he is still full of spirit and still manages to make everyone smile.
Dave means the world to us. He always will.
As he got older, we knew he deserved a quieter life. The thought of him leaving us was never an option. Dave is family, and he will always have a home with us.
Then Lauren came along.
What started as a loan quickly became something much more special. From the very beginning, there was something between them that was impossible to ignore. The way she looked at him. The way he looked for her. The trust, the comfort, the happiness they found in each other. It was as if they had been waiting to find one another all along.
Everyone around them could see it. Their connection was beautiful. Rare. The kind of bond that reminds you why we love horses so much.
Over the last few months, we have watched their relationship grow into something truly extraordinary. Lauren didn’t just love Dave, she understood him. And Dave didn’t just trust Lauren, he chose her.
So we made what was, without doubt, one of the easiest and most heartfelt decisions we have ever made.
We Gifted Dave to Lauren.🎉
Not because we wanted to let him go, but because sometimes loving something means doing what is best for them. And when we looked at Dave and Lauren together, it was obvious where he belonged.
Seeing Lauren’s dream come true has been incredibly emotional for all of us. There is nobody more deserving, and there is nothing more rewarding than watching two souls find exactly where they are meant to be.
The best part? They’re not going anywhere. They’ll still be here with us, and we’ll have the privilege of watching their journey continue.
So yes, we truly believe horses can have a favourite person.
