Swimmer of the Month - May 2026

A huge congratulations to Isla O on being named Oswestry Otters Swimmer of the Month for May 2026.

Over the past month, Isla has shown exceptional focus and determination in her training. Rather than looking for quick results, she has embraced the process of improvement, demonstrating patience, resilience and a real desire to master the finer details of her swimming.

One area where this has been particularly evident is her work on legal turns. Isla has invested significant time and effort into understanding exactly what is required, repeatedly practising and refining her skills until they become consistent and effective. Her commitment to getting things right, even when it takes time and persistence, has been impressive to see.

Beyond the technical improvements, Isla’s attitude to training has stood out. She arrives ready to learn, works hard throughout every session and responds positively to coaching feedback.

This award recognises not only the progress she has made, but also the dedication and maturity she has shown along the way. Very well deserved, Isla.

❤️🖤Volunteers Are the Heart of Oswestry Otters ❤️🖤

Success in swimming is often measured in times, medals and personal bests, but none of those achievements happen without the people who give their time freely to support our club.

During National Volunteers’ Week, we want to recognise the individuals who make Oswestry Otters possible. Every training session delivered, every competition attended, every swimmer encouraged and every opportunity created is supported by volunteers who care deeply about our club and its members.

Our volunteers bring a wide range of skills, experience and enthusiasm, but they all share one thing in common, a desire to help young people enjoy the sport of swimming and become the best version of themselves. They are the first to arrive, often the last to leave, and continually work behind the scenes to ensure the club can thrive.

Their impact reaches far beyond the pool. They help build confidence, develop friendships, create a sense of belonging and provide experiences that swimmers will remember for years to come.

To everyone who contributes to Oswestry Otters in any capacity, thank you. Your commitment, generosity and belief in what we do are what make this club such a special place to be.

Congratulations to Ella H, Oswestry Otters Swimmer of the Month for April 2026.

Over the last month, Ella has shown real growth both in and out of the pool. She has demonstrated excellent determination and commitment to training, alongside growing confidence in her swimming and in herself.

Particularly pleasing has been Ella’s developing ability to manage her own emotions, remain positive when faced with uncertainty or challenge, and continue to push forward with maturity and resilience. These are hugely important qualities within sport and are a reflection of the hard work she has been putting in every day.

Well done Ella, from all of the coaching team. This is a very well deserved award and we are excited to continue to watch your progress ❤️🖤
