This is some scary stats right!? 😲

According to Public Health England, around 24,000 of deaths in England every year are in people under the age of 75, and 80 per cent of these are preventable, which is equivalent to around 50 per day.

But. physical activity of any intensity could make a difference to life expectancy as spending more than nine and a half hours a day sitting (as opposed to standing or walking, for example) is associated with an increased risk of death. Even light activity, such as walking slowly or light tasks such as cooking dinner or washing dishes; moderate activity including brisk walking, vacuuming or mowing the lawn; and vigorous activity, like jogging, carrying heavy loads or digging will all help. 💪

So if exercise is so good for us, why is it so gosh-darn hard to get done?!!

Work, family commitments and mental health are the most common barriers — as were exhaustion and not feeling motivated.

Low Cost and Low Accountability... Gyms can make far more money if you stay at home!!

Looking to get into better shape, but having a hard time sticking with your exercise goals? If so, then you need some help with accountability. Fortunately, there are plenty of small yet effective changes you can make to hold yourself more accountable to your fitness goals and stay on-track! Here are a few below:

1.) Go with a friend: Having someone else to hold you accountable can make all the difference, too. Having someone else to exercise with will make you less likely to mentally justify skipping your workouts and can make working out more fun.

2.) Prepare: If you have a hard time getting up and hitting the gym first thing in the morning, try setting your workout clothes out at night so they’re ready and waiting for you when you wake up.

3.) Goals: It’s easy to fall off the wagon if you don’t feel like you’re making progress.

The shocking truth is that the gym industry relies on you not going! Hence a gym’s mission to attract the perfect customer: People who intend to work out, but don’t. That could include many of us. The less 'members' that are actively using the gym means that the gym can sell more memberships! Some of us need more support than a typical gym is willing or able to offer and that's where training and coaching can come in.

Time, effort, sacrifice and sweat. How will you pay for your goals?" Usain Bolt.

We don't all have goals of being Olympic athletes and the fastest in the World. We don't all need to sacrifice too much to reach our health and fitness goals. It may mean just a little bit of exercise and some adjustments to our lifestyle and diet.

I like this as it reminds me a little of myself! This quote in particular: “You’ll give up and come back to that old idea of: ‘I’m not sporty.’ That’s not the case. You just haven’t found what’s right for you.”

I started my career in fitness in a very non-conventional way. I wasn’t the fit, slim kid in school, quite the opposite in fact. I wasn’t naturally sporty with a tan and a six pack and I didn’t get into to personal training from having a natural physical gift.I was the kid that conveniently didn’t have his gym kit for a whole year to save the embarrassment of the changing rooms. I come from a place where I know what it’s like to struggle with food, struggle with weight and health. In saying that, I have found a solution to fast weight loss and body transformation that offers quick results with no gimmicks, no over training or starvation diets.

Bad memories of PE can give people the lifelong impression they’re not cut out for sport. But plenty of adults have left behind sedentary lifestyles – you just have to find the right approach.

Skipping breakfast before exercise might reduce how much we eat during the remainder of the day. Plus, exercising before we eat means that we kick start our metabolism and burn more fat.
