Fc Maine 2-1 St Nics Spartans U15’s

Football is a cruel game sometimes!

Spartans rocked up into Coventry for the first game of the season against new team FC Maine looking confident after a really good pre season.

Anticipating a physical game, we were slightly surprised by Maine's ability to keep the ball and took us 5/10 minutes to adapt but once we did well were on the front foot. The pressure paid off when new signing Franki did brilliantly in the box to draw the foul, leaving Alfie to slot home the penalty comfortably.

However, lady luck was not on our side, as within the space of a few minutes we lost 3 players to injuries and conceding an unfortunate OG

Half time chat, regrouped and a few positional changes, we were confident we could grab all 3 points. On another day that would have happened but missed chance crucially came back to haunt us as we conceded with a few minutes to go.

Despite the result, still lots of positives to take from it and can definitely look forward to a positive season.

Young Spartans finished off their very impressive pre season program with a great away win at Beaumont Park Jags.

The attitude the kids has shown throughout preseason has been extremely positive and that's been showed off with some very good wins against really good sides all set for the new season ahead!!

More minutes in the legs for the lads against a really good Redditch United side. Running out 3-1 winners, we continue a really encouraging preseason.

Work rate, fitness and confidence all worked on and showing as we get ready for the new season!

The rebranded Spartans returned to action this afternoon after an extended summer break at the fantastic facilities at Quorn.

Running out 5-0 winners, the kids played some great football with very hot conditions against a very capable side who kept the ball really well.

Very encouraging start to pre-season!
