Race 3 of the DK Mile Series 2026 takes place this Friday (5th June) at Blyth Beach.
This year’s series has been our most popular yet, with record numbers of athletes taking part and some incredible times being achieved across the age groups.
With the course record now down to 4:30, will we see it fall again?

Come along and support some of the region’s top athletes and give them the famous Blyth welcome as they continue to put our Town firmly on the UK Athletics map.

The race starts at 7pm, with four senior waves followed by a junior wave, all finishing along the iconic Prom.

On the complete opposite end of the running spectrum, our Chairman Michael Ashby will be taking on the 100k Priory Ultra on Saturday — from Bamburgh to Tynemouth (with a few inland detours for good measure!).
Michael will also be the official starter for the DK Mile on Friday, so make sure to wish him well.
Knowing what he’s been through over the past two years, this challenge is nothing short of extraordinary.

DK Mile Series 2026 – Race 2 takes place on Blyth Promenade at 7pm tonight.

To say our local runners took over the UK Athletics 1‑mile road rankings last month is an understatement — the evidence speaks for itself.

What makes it even more remarkable is that the last race took place on 3rd April, during that wind‑swept weekend we all remember. With conditions much improved for tonight, we’re hoping to see something even more spectacular from our fantastic North East athletes.

All athletes will set off in ability‑based waves, one minute apart, with the under‑14s starting immediately afterwards in their own wave.

With ages ranging from 11 to 80 years old, the big questions are:
Who will cross the line first — and who will grab a new PB?

If you’re nearby, feel free to come down and give them some support as they continue to put the North East firmly back on the UK 1‑mile road‑race map.

Good luck to everyone taking part!!
