🏁 Tough Final for Riley 🏁
Starting 28th out of 34 at the South West Kart Championships, Riley’s final was an uphill battle from the first turn. A 360-degree spin on corner one dropped him to the back of the pack, but he quickly regrouped and hunted down the field, climbing to 30th by lap three.
He held his nerve and executed a patient race plan, however, chaos struck again at the very same corner. Forced wide to avoid a multi-kart collision, Riley lost all grip and slid side-on straight into the barrier.
With a bent axle ending his race, Riley limped the kart to a safe marshal zone. As he stepped out, sharp pains in his lower back triggered a call to the paramedics. Thankfully, after a thorough check-over, he was given the clear with no broken bones—just deep bruising to his sacrum and coccyx.
Despite the bruising and finishing 30th, the weekend held major positives: Riley raced hard against elite drivers on F1-grade tarmac, clocked a brand new PB, and officially broke into the 47-second lap zone on a track he had never raced at.
Today's session at Paddock Performance Therapy was all about stimulating the healing process, reducing deep tissue pressure, and giving the body the room it needs to embrace its natural recovery.
The focus is now locked on a fast, smart recovery because the clock is ticking. We go again in 2 weeks at the Southern Championships at Forest Edge Kart Club! 🌲🏎️
