A tough match against strong opposition for the ladies last night. Harborough appeared further along in their pre season preparations, looking sharper than Jets in general. They saw a lot of the ball and created openings but were thwarted by some solid defending and goalkeeping. In possession Jets looked strong, with nice passages of play and link up between our attacking players. We created chances but were unable to convert any on the night.
The first Harborough goal came fairly early and was a worldie hit that Amy, who had a strong debut in the Jets goal, could do nothing about. Harborough’s other two goals came late, by which time there was limited light left, the game ending after 80 minutes due to this.
Player of the match was shared by Kel and Maddie. Kel put in an absolute shift in centre mid first half and was solid and commanding in an unexpected stint at CB second half as Lou was unfortunately forced off injured. We hope for a very speedy recovery 🙏🏼. Maddie bossed the first half at wing back and the second at full back, relentlessin her pursuit of winning the ball back and driving us forward.
Honourable mention to Tweedy who was solid in an unfamiliar midfield role first half and incredible returning to her more familiar CB role second half 👏🏼
A second pre season defeat but positives to take from the game, as well as lessons. We go again next Wednesday against Harpole in our final pre season match.
