Monday 14th September, 7:30pm - general Q&A session

Being gentle and being kind to ourselves is so important, especially when times are challenging.
Sometimes we need to gently listen and recognise that it is not being indulgent to take some time for ourselves: to allow for healing, to allow for reflection ... or just taking the chance for quietness.

I came across meditation & mindfulness and found it to be a great help when things became challenging for me ... so beneficial that I decided to learn how to teach meditation & mindfulness, to be able to introduce this to others.
So, I now teach (as well as having my own practice) meditation and mindfulness.

I teach an embodied and lived mindfulness course, rooted in, and informed by, Zen;
the course is rooted in a living Zen lineage, it bridges the gap between cognitive understanding and real-world application

An opportunity to learn authentic Zen techniques, to ‘find your Zen’:

“Meditation and Mindfulness for Health & Wellbeing”

An 8-Week course, delivered live, online on Monday evenings (UK time),
7:30pm to 9:00pm
Starting 21st September

FREE introduction/taster Zoom call, to meet me, and to ask any questions you may have (Monday 14th September, 7:30pm, UK time)

Please contact me directly for further details, and the Zoom link for the taster

Blue Monday ... or is it?

So, after a wonderful weekend I start work this morning, Monday 19th Jan, only to find out that today is “Blue Monday”.
‘Blue Monday” being, supposedly, “the most depressing day of the year”; so termed as it’s the day when the festive spending (or over-spending) becomes clear, when the weather remains gloomy. It’s when we realise those pesky New Years Resolutions may need to wait for next year (again) ... and various other challenges (add your own here ......)

Oh dear I was, fortunately, feeling good this morning ... should I now be feeling ‘Blue’ ... did I miss something?

Looking into this a little further though, all is not as it initially appears.

The term “Blue Monday” was the name given to the day in January (usually the third Monday) by a former Cardiff University health psychologist in 2016. He was later quoted that it was never his intention to make the day sound negative, but to ‘inspire people to take action and make bold life decisions’. It was, amongst other areas, used by travel companies to market summer holidays.

Who knew?

Unfortunately, our health challenges don’t just appear for one day, but for many days, weeks, months, and sometimes longer. Whether it’s stress & anxiety or depression looking for & asking for help is so important ... we can also ask: “are you OK?”

If “Blue Monday” does allow us to pause for a moment to consider our own, our family and our colleagues health, then “Blue Monday” could be a useful day – what do you think?

A quiet period at the end of the year.
A time for reflection and contemplation

Cornwall, morning, mist rising
empty and quiet, gulls and gentle rolling waves.

Wonderful opportunity to reflect on what has changed and opportunities that await

Wishing all a Happy New Year for 2026
