A village football club has been left without a base after being handed a notice of eviction from the playing fields it calls home.

Broughton & North Newington Football Club Statement

It is with deep regret that we announce that after 105 years of tradition and sharing the field with the cricket team, our football team has been forced to vacate and as a result We have been given a 28-day notice to move out.

At the beginning of this year, we established a social club in collaboration with the cricket team, aiming to foster a better future by introducing new ideas and working more efficiently together. However, these efforts have been undermined by the actions of the trustees and as a result we have been asked to leave.

We are profoundly disappointed by this situation. Currently, Broughton & North Newington Football Club is without a home field to play on.

The football club committee will do everything in its power to uphold its tradition of playing in the local leagues but without a ground this may be a tough ask for next season - we will update you when we can.

⚽️ Memories for Matty Family Fun Day ⚽️

"Please come down and support Memories for Matty at the Wroxton Sports Club on Saturday 18th of May. Gates open at 11am.

The day will feature 4 charity football games as well as stalls, a face painter, kids entertainers and games, a cake sale, a bar, a BBQ, a raffle, and a silent auction with football memorabilia.

Games include Wroxton Ladies facing off against a special side named Matty’s Ladies, while Wroxton Veterans will play the Matty’s Men side. Matty’s friends will play against Deddington Colts U14s, the side that Matty used to play for and lastly, Deddington U13s will play against Middleton Cheney U13s."
