If you haven’t already heard, it is with great sadness that I regret to inform you that unfortunately, due to a lack of player commitment and just struggling for a consistent team, Woolacombe has had to throw in the towel and fold from the North Devon Football League, effective immediately.

After setting up the club almost 5 years ago, I’ve put a lot of hard work and time into getting us off the ground, along with the rest of our backroom staff, managers and the players.

We had a great season last year and managed to get promotion, but unfortunately due to players transferring and not being able to commit as much due to new commitments, we have had to pack it in.

Thanks to all for their support and all the local clubs we have played in that time, it’s been great fun despite the hard work. I fully underestimated how time consuming it is to run a football club, so if you’re thinking of starting one or joining a team, please consider carefully if you can commit the time.

Best of luck to the rest of our Intermediate 1 opponents this season, hopefully the players that want to continue will be able to find new clubs as soon as possible.

A massive thank you to Philip J Milton & Company Plc for sponsoring our kit. We’re so sorry and sad it didn’t last as long as it should have. James will be in touch with our plans for it, it’s going to a good home 🙂

Also massive thanks to Tommy G's for sponsoring our jackets. They kept us warm in many winters and they weren’t too bad to look at! 😎

Big thanks to North Devon Football League for hearing our appeal to start a club way back when, unfortunately with new teams being started, players are always attracted to play with other friends or to a larger club so they are required to commit less.

Special thanks to Rob Hornby for making a trip down to see us in last season and reporting our emphatic win on his grassroots blog.

Last thank you to the Council for letting us hire the facilities and Jan and Sally for always working with us as much as they could!

Best of luck to AFC Dumnonii who will now be the only football team playing in Woolacombe, take care of our home!

Full Time

Woolacombe 4 - 8 Woolsery A.F.C

After what seemed like an even battle in the first half was quickly turned on it’s head. Woolsery came out a better side in the second half and turned the screw. Ethan Cole managed to put another one in the back of the net but unfortunately it just wasn’t our day!

Thanks to Woolsery for a good game and the people who came to watch! Lets hope we can get into a bit of form next week when we’re away to Hartland Clovelly FC

Half Time:

Woolacombe 3 - 4 Woolsery A.F.C

What a great half of football. After conceding an early goal, Woolacombe managed to claw it back. A penalty cooly converted by Jamie P, Finn burying home his opportunity and a rocket from Ethan Cole into the top corner saw us take the lead. Woolsery pulled back into the game though and netted 3 times before the end of the half to take back the lead! Certainly a good game to watch!

Match Day ⚽️

Football is back and with a bang! Woolacombe kick off the season with a home fixture to Woolsery A.F.C who also earned promotion to Intermediate 1 last year. The Wolves will be looking to continue their form from last season against a tough, highest scoring Woolsery side.

With the previous manager Ryan Offield stepping down and focusing on scoring goals, the new boss is looking to pick up where Ryan left off and hoping to secure a victory this afternoon. The weather is looking like it might hold out which will surely bring some spectators down.

Special thanks to Philip J Milton & Company Plc for sponsoring our lovely home kit for this season and as always our man Tommy G's for our jackets 🐺

Best of luck to all teams kicking off today!

Training tomorrow 10-12. All players old and new welcome! Hope to see some new faces!

Well after an odd season, we’re happy to announce that with a 6-3 home win this weekend in our last game, Woolacombe managed to nick 2nd spot and a promotion to Intermediate 1 ahead of Kingsley Wizards!

Despite a bit if a nervy game, Woolacombe managed to secure a 6-3 win and earn a promotion. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our wicked Chairman James Sanders-Elliott for his constant support of the club! Helping us in many ways to secure a new sponsor Philip J Milton & Company Plc who has provided us with a lovely new home kit. Big shout out to Tommy G's too!

No rest for the wicked, the lads will be straight back into training next week to start prepping for the step up to Int 1. Watch this space, training will be open to all players 16+ looking to play football locally in Woolacombe!

Photo credit to Pitchside Paul, thanks for coming down to capture our final game of the season! He’s got some more photos to come which we will share when available!

Thanks to all the lads who put in the work behind the scenes, Ryan Offield & Tom Sibbald for being the first ones in and the last ones out!

Next season we will be sharing our pitch with newly formed side AFC Dumnonii, so hopefully they’ll be an entertaining game to watch every weekend in Woolacombe for the foreseeable future!

Cheers 🐺🐺🐺🐺

WHAT A GAME!!

An outstanding performance by Woolacombe saw us comfortably take second place in the league with an 8-1 victory against Kingsley Wizards. The wolves took the lead early on through Jake Chesworth, who bagged a hattrick on the day with his second goal a brilliant arial scissor kick and a penalty to net 3. Goals from George Camp, Levi Huxtable, Josh Jones and 2 from substitute Connor James. Kingsley managed to put the ball in the back of the net with a good header from a set piece, however it was nothing but a conciliation goal for the visitors.

Thanks to the crowd for watching and thanks to our sponsors Philip J Milton & Company Plc Trimstone Manor Country House Hotel and Tommy G's.

Woolacombe are now in second place in the league, with 2 games left to play. A win next weekend would confirm that 2nd spot and guarantee a promotion to Intermediate 1.

Great effort from the lads and a great day for a game of football! Now all we need is England to win tomorrow and it’s the perfect weekend!

Great fixture lined up for this weekend!
Saturday’s game will see Woolacombe face Kingsley Wizards at home for what is sure to be a great entertaining match!

Last time out the Wolves were undone by Kingsley in the away fixture and were left going home with their tails inbetween their legs. But this fixture is surely the most important fixture of the season. With Kingsley just 3 points ahead, Woolacombe have a game in hand and a win could put the Wolves in the driving seat for their race to a promotion. 3 points would see Woolacombe level with Kingsley on points but ahead on goal difference.

Kick off is at 2:30pm at The Meadow, if you’re in the area come down and catch hopefully a cracking game!

Speical thanks to our sponsors Trimstone Manor Country House Hotel, Philip J Milton & Company Plc and Tommy G's for all their continued support!

Full Time
Woolacombe 1 - Woolsery A.F.C 2

A cracking game tonight eventually saw Woolsery edge to victory after a well fought 90 minutes. The Wolves battled hard and were rewarded for their efforts taking the lead with a great close range strike from Tommy Goldsworthy, the veteren’s first game in 2 years! Woolsery had some chances, but a very well placed header from Chris Brend fired them level before the break. Both teams saw chances in the first half, but Jord North in between the sticks kept the Wolves in the game!

Second half was more of the same, Woolsery seeing more of the ball and the keeper being called into action a few more times. A great opportunity passed Woolacombe as Jamie Loder for Woolsery made a quality save to deny two close range efforts from Wooly! It was with 5 minutes to go, the league’s top scorer Micha Howe slotted in a close range effort from a set piece. Ultimately Woolacombe couldn’t rescue a point, but they put in a brilliant performance against a side unbeaten all season!

Moving on to next Saturday (well earned break this weekend), where we host Kingsley Wizards at the Meadow. Kingsley are 3 points above Woolacombe and a victory in that game would see Woolacombe go second on goal difference, with the chance for promotion in their hands!

Thanks to our sponsors Tommy G's and Philip J Milton & Company Plc for supporting us!
