Today we played away against Worksop Boys and Girls Lions.
It was a slow start to the game but once we found our gear the team definitely stepped it up a level, playing some excellent football and doing the basics well which created opportunity after opportunity and we made the most of them, entering half time 6-0 up.
It was great to see the team work the ball well, playing well as a team and working for each other.
We started the 2nd half well, taking the game to the opposition again and secured a goal quite early on. We unfortunately had a bad spell for circa 20 minutes and lost our shape, composure and team work and ethic which resulted in the opposition securing themselves a goal along with 2 penalties. Great work from Rowan though who reacted well and saved both penalties.
We regained focus and composure and started to play the game we can play again and this secured us another 2 goals winning 9-1 today. Goals scores today; Oliver, Zac, JJ, Harry, Dylan and Lenny.
Well done to joint parents players of the match Harry and Rowan. Harry never stopped running, closed players down, great play assisting goals and securing 2 himself. Rowan, didn’t have the busiest of days but when called upon did everything asked of him brilliantly, including x2 penalty saves
Well done everyone great game!!

U12’s match report

Today saw us host Hoyland Common at home. The game started well with us putting pressure on the opposition immediately and putting their keeper under pressure. Unfortunately though, we allowed the opposition to break and take the lead leaving us 1-0 down. That didn’t stop the boys though as they continued to work well as a team and played some great football seeing them feed Joseph up front who used his excellent footwork to pull the keeper out and place the ball behind in the back of the net.
We continued to play well, showing great team work, composure and work rate, however, Hoyland again attacked us and put themselves back in the lead seeing the 1st half finish 2-1.

Going into half time, whilst we were down the boys had demonstrated some excellent football and it was still all to play for and their attitudes showed this from the whistle in the 2nd half. The team came out very positive and determined to give it their all which saw us equalise quite early in the game.

Team work was outstanding today, listening to the boys encouraging each other, working the ball well between them and supporting each other. They kept growing in strength on the pitch and continued to put pressure on the opposition which helped create the 3rd goal which saw another hat trick for Joseph.

The boys continued to press and hold defensively, seeing us finish the game 3-2. A brilliant result well done.

Parents MoM today was a tie and both Lenny Kay and Joseph Doherty were recognised for their performances. Lenny for his solid performance at centre back. Lenny was strong as always, closing down the play, creating play from the back and tenaciously tracking his player not giving him anytime on the ball. Joseph for his composure, skill and speed. He holds his position well creating great space on the pitch. He’s just returned from injury and you wouldn’t have realised seeing that performance. Another 3 goals for Joseph, well done.

Coaches mentions to Leighton Hopkinson for his outstanding performance in midfield. His work rate was outstanding today, tracking back covering defence when needed, tackling well and creating many plays and opportunities up front.

Dylan again had another great game in midfield, his quick and skilful play on the ball driving forward at the opposition, takes the time to lookup and work well with his team mates.

Every player could have had a mention, great performance ANSTON RANGERS!!!

Well done everyone, another great game!!
