Crystal sound bowls play single notes, different sized bowls play different notes and these notes relate to different energy centres in your body. Often if you tune in and close your eyes you can notice where you feel the sound.

Our next sound and reiki afternoon is at the end of this month to celebrate the Summer Solstice. We have spaces available on the 11am and 2.30pm sessions. If you can join us you can book via the link in my profile or on my website.

How you spend the first half an hour of your day can alter how you feel and change how your day evolves. This morning I wandered into my yoga room at 6am, there’s a big silver birch 🌳 outside the window. I was treated to watching some fledgling blue t**s with a very busy parent feeding them from the bugs on the tree. What a special treat 💚💚💚

I hope you have a lovely day 😁

Yoga isn’t about what the pose looks like, it’s about your connection with your body and how it FEELS. It’s broadly irrelevant how it looks, if you are feeling the stretch, practicing the balance, finding the strength you are practicing yoga. Yoga is not a goal, it is a way of being.

My classes are inclusive and I welcome everyone to come and feel the benefits of yoga.

Monday classes are back to normal after a few bank holidays.

12pm Elston
1.15pm Elston Chair Class

6.30pm Sutton on Trent

Men’s only session

Come and have a go everyone is welcome.

Reiki entered my life around 11 years ago. Up until that point I had no understanding of what it was and how it could benefit me.

It’s something that is hard to fully explain without sounding totally woo woo. Often experiencing it can help your understanding.

Reiki is based on the idea and understanding that each of us has an energetic body. The part of your body where invisible energy moves around. That feeling when you meet someone and you feel like you’ve already met. When you walk into a room and you know there’s an atmosphere. That gut feeling. Your intuition.

When you spend time with people you can take on some of their energy, you can collect it. If this energy is negative or emotionally charged this can affect your energy. This can be compounded by each person that you meet or interact with. If you don’t release this energy it can get stuck and can weigh you down, mentally and emotionally. In the same vein, our past experiences and trauma can be stored in our energetic body. This can then affect how we react and deal with situations in the present.

Reiki works by the practitioner channeling energy from around them (universal energy) into the person receiving. This is done by holding or placing the hands over various parts of the body.

People experience Reiki in different ways depending on their energy in that moment and who is channeling the Reiki energy. You can feel a deep sense of well being and relaxation, you can experience a release of emotion, some people see colours, some people have a physical reaction such as a twitch. There is no right way and you can’t get it wrong.

In my experience of both giving and receiving Reiki energy it helps to bring yourself into your body, I often notice places where I am holding tension and tightness and then the Reiki helps that to leave my body. Emotionally I have released many different emotions both from the past and the present.

I have availability through June for some new clients, whether that is face to face or online. Let me know if you’re interested.

I love Downward Dog, it’s my happy place, my hamstrings are long, my arms are long and it feels comfortable for my body. But for a lot of people this can feel like torture. If your hamstrings are tight, if you have stiff ankles, if your shoulders are sore, 10 seconds in this pose can feel like 10 minutes.

It’s worth having a play here to discover if you can make it feel better in your body because it’s such a lovely stretch for your back and legs.

Bend your knees. Widen or narrow your feet. Pedal your feet. Lengthen your spine, let your head go heavy.

Play around with the distance between your hands and feet, two far and it’s an uncomfortable plank, too near and it’s an uncomfortable forward fold.

Your heels DO NOT have to touch the ground. But your hands do, and your fingers, and the base of each knuckle. Try to spread the weight evenly between your hands and your feet.

And if it still feels horrible. Grab a chair 🪑 put your forearms on the seat and take a step back with your feet. Push your hips back and lengthen your spine, let your arms stretch. This is also downward dog and gives you the most delicious back stretch without the load in the shoulders.

Take a moment, notice your feet on the ground, take a breath in, and then notice what happens….
how is the air entering your body? Nose? Mouth? Both?
Where does the air go? Chest? Belly? Ribs?
What temperature is the air as it comes into your body?
What temperature is it as it leaves?
Next time you take a breath, imagine the breath going all the way down to belly button, and then as you exhale let the air go softly out through pursed lips. As the air leaves your body, can you allow any tension, tightness and stress to start to leave your body?
Repeat.
Repeat.
Repeat.
Now, how do you feel?

Practicing yoga outside is one of my all time favourite things to do. The feeling of connection to nature, my feet on the ground, the sun on my skin, the sounds of the birds singing, I become part of nature rather than just the viewer.

Emma has invited me to run a class in her beautiful flower fields. As part of the offering you also get to cut your own flowers to take home. A beautiful mindful morning of movement amongst the gloriousness of flowers, my two great loves.

I hope you can join us. If you would like to come along pop over to Emma’s page and follow her links to book on her website.

Being sedentary and not moving our bodies as much as we age contributes to stiffness. We need to move our bodies in order to lubricate joints and to help the lymph fluid move around.

The movement doesn’t have to be intense.

Gentle, controlled, mindful movement is perfect. Walking. Yoga. Swimming.

Let your body move a little more each day and see what changes. I guarantee it will feel better than it did.
