First home game of the season for the Seniors as we are at home to Wingate AFC. Come and support the lads at The Oakleaf as we look to bounce back from a bad cup game last week💙

Seniors where away to Ferryhill in there first of two midweekers in the next two Wednesdays.

The game was to be played on possible the worst pitch I have ever seen and thus proved to be a leveller, everytime we got the ball and tried to play football the ball took a mind of its own.
Ferryhill were happy to work hard and lump it forward which worked for them often putting us under pressure.

Just on half time Kieran Maughan broke free and was brought down leaving the ref no choice to show a straight red to the Ferryhill defender. We made 2 changes at half time to try something diffrence to brake the ferryhill low block. With 5 minutes to go we thought we had achieved it when a lovely passing move involving over 10 passes found Kieran who turned and finished into the top corner, only for the ref to rule it out for offside he was well on but that's the game.
We continued to push to find the winner but credit to Ferryhill they kept us out and the game finished goalless.

Seniors were away to Washington Reserves in our first league game of the season yesterday. We started very brightly with Ryan Tunstall playing a one two and getting in behind their defence but his lovely ball into the box was blazed over by Charlie Welsh. A similar move saw Duane Davison break free and this time he finished to go 1 up. Then not long after a cross field ball from Ryan found Charlie Welsh who continued his preseason form and fired home for our second.
Half time showed where we want to be at 2 up the lads were laying into each other and the management team where not happy with the way we where playing. We then asked the lads to be slightly more direct and also to keep making the runs that lead to the two goals.
Second half we improved in the areas we asked and we were rewarded when Charlie stole the ball of there keeper and slotted home , quickly followed by a typical Niall Douglas goal off bullying his way past a couple and striking into the corner from outside the box. Washington then pulled one back even if it looked 10 yards offside. Minutes later sub Josh Batey beat there offside trap and finished from an angle. Josh then went round there keeper but somehow rolled the ball wide of the target with an open net staring him in the face. The afternoon was wrapped up when Mason Steed beat the offside trap and it was 2 on 1 as he squared it to Josh Batey to roll into an open net.

Saturday saw the seniors play away to Sunderland RCA reserves who are in the same league as ourselves next season.
Before the game saw a minutes silence for young Noah Scott and the lads and management team wore black arm bands.
We started the game well with trialist A going close he continued to link up well with Ryan down the right with the aycliffe strikers just failing to get on the end of some lovely balls in.
The dead lock was broken when Charlie took advantage of a mistake at the back with a neat touch out his feet and a strike to the bottom corner.
Tralist A soon added our second when sent through on goal by Charlie.
Our second trialist of the game linked up well to feed the ball to trialist A who's ball into there box was controlled and finished by Niall.
RCA won a penalty when the ref deamed a great tackle by Dylan a foul which resulted in there striker blazing it over the bar.
4 changes at half time and a slight change in formation with us taking total control of the game , RCA quickly resorted to just trying to kick lumps out of us rather than play football.
We added our 3th when trialist A scored with a half volley.
We had chances to add another 3 or 4 but it was not to be.
Shorter than normal preseason with only 3 games played due to holidays, pitch availability etc but 3 wins, and 2 clean sheets hopefully we take that into next weeks first game of the season. Away to Washington Reserves🔵

The Seniors travelled up to Esh Winning from northern league 2 for there first preseason game. Squad was down to bare numbers with injuries and lads at work saw us travel with 13 including one lad that's not kicked ball a in 2 years. It also saw the return of former keeper Sam Pinnegar for his second spell with the team.
The game started scrappy with Esh having the better of the play playing down the hill.
But our defensive shape held us in good stead , and Sam playing as a sweeper keeper.
We grew into the game and started to produce some counter attacking football with both full backs making over lapping runs.
Pressure on there cb saw him gift the ball to niall 35 yards out his chip over the keeper give us the lead.
Esh created a half chance which saw Sam make a good save . The rest of the first half peated out and saw us go in 1 up at half time.
We had the slope second half but knew we would struggle with legs.
But we continued to frustrate Esh with our shear hardwork and shape , the game became more and more scrappy which suited us as Esh struggled to get the ball down and play , they did create a couple of good chances one of which hit the post .
We manged to see out the match and took the 1-0 win.
Effort was unreal tonight and we have now set the example for the season in what we can do with that grit and determination.
All 13 lads where brilliant but im going to single out Josh Batey asked to play out of position up top tonight he worked his socks off to close down and be a genuine nuisance to the Esh back line.
