𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 | 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 🥇
Some people tell me I’m wasting time and money on Ruan’s extracurricular activity — 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 & 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐨𝐧.
They look at the daily expenses — from transportation to training, the gear, the bike, the race / tournament registration fees — and they think it’s too much for something "𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚".
But here’s what most don’t understand:
𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭.
𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝.
They say Ruan must be exhausted — school in the morning, tutor and training in the afternoon, five days a week.
But to be honest?
𝐈’𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰,
𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧, spend his time scrolling and scrolling on T*kTok, watching unhealthy and nonsense videos that add no value to his life.
He started football at just 2 years old.
By 4, he was already doing triathlon.
Some may say we’re just forcing Ruan to join Triathlon/ Football because it was our childhood dream, that we just want him to pursue what we couldn’t.
But if you know him you would know that He was the one who really wanted it.
We’ve seen how committed he is, how focused he’s become.
He’s learning to be disciplined, respectful, and responsible — all at such a young age.
That’s why I’d rather raise him in an environment that teaches structure, teamwork, and humility,
than one where anything goes as long as you’re entertained.
I want him to be around kids who share the same values —
young athletes who push each other to become better, not just in sports, but in life.
And yes, I choose this path for him
𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭,
But to raise someone who knows how to deal with failure, stay grounded in victory, and keep going even when things get hard.
𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.
It’s about learning how to lose with grace,
How to respect your coaches and opponents,
How to bounce back when things don’t go your way.
It’s about responsibility, time management, focus, and learning to 𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍 every progress, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮.
These are things that will stay with him forever — long after the finish line or the final whistle blows.
So yes, it costs time, energy, and money.
𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐨, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭.
𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞.
𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞.
𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠.
𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 — 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐧. 🏆
