পিচটা মিরপুরের। কালো মাটির সেই কুখ্যাত পিচ। বল যেখানে হাঁটুর নিচ দিয়ে গড়ায়। যেখানে বল পিচে পড়ার পর কখন ব্যাটে আসবে সেটা দিশা করতেই হিমশিম খাওয়া লাগে।

বিপক্ষ দলটার নাম অস্ট্রেলিয়া। ক্রিকেটের রয়্যাল ব্লাড। পেস বাউন্স সুইং এগ্রেশনের বিপক্ষে যারা অপ্রতিরোধ্য। সেখানে সেই মিরপুরের এই হালকা পরিবর্তিত পিচেই মাইটি অজিদের দিকে ১৪৮-৫০+ গতিতে একের পর এক রীতিমতো মিসাইলের পর মিসাইল ছুঁড়ে নাস্তানাবুদ করলো এক তরুণ, দ্য সেনসেশনাল নাহিদ রানা।

ক'দিন আগেও লেখালেখি হয়েছে রানার এইসব গতি কাজ করবে শুধু পাকি শ্রীলঙ্কানদের সাথেই। ভালো দলের সামনে পড়লে হাওয়া বের হয়ে যাবে। নিচের ছবিগুলা দেখে তারাই বলবে, কাদের হাওয়া কোনদিক দিয়ে বেরুচ্ছিল।

আগেও বলেছি, আবারও বলছি, দলে ১৫০ কিমি গতিতে বল করতে পারা ছয় ফুটের উপর লম্বা একটা দানব থাকা মানে সেটা পরমতম সৌভাগ্যের ব্যাপার। না হয় পেইসের এগেইনস্টে অজি ব্যাটারদের এমন নাচানাচি দেখতে পাওয়ার স্বপ্ন আজীবন স্বপ্নই থেকে যেত।
