Staying up later than planned to see Mitch Fiddling take it to Masami and Brent and overtake them both in one corner was pretty epic.... Great job to hang on after despite back markers doing their best to at least make him work for it too ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Brilliant stuff mate, well done!

๐Ÿ† End of an era, and what a way to finish! ๐Ÿ†

I am incredibly proud to wrap up this season by winning the first-ever Modelsport Vintage National Series in the "Ultra" class, driving the incredible Trickbits YZ10R-25.

The car performed brilliantly across the series, taking TQ and the win in 3 out of 4 rounds to secure the championship early. Even in a fiercely fought final round, we pushed hard to qualify and finish a solid 2nd.

This marks my final season racing this fantastic machine. I want to say a massive thank you to Alby at Trickbits for his unwavering help, support, and faith in me. Just 3 or 4 years ago, this car was nothing more than an idea in Albyโ€™s head to get more Yokomo YZ10 buggies back out on the track where they belong. As a completely one-man band, he fully developed his own re-release, sourcing and manufacturing every single component right here in the UK. It is a monumental achievement, and he should be rightly proud of what he has built.
I originally agreed to extend my time running the car for this one last season when a space opened upโ€”with my Schumacher R/C Racing CAT 2000 moving into a different category for this vintage series. Looking back, I am super proud to have brought home another major win for Alby. We made a fantastic team together, and it has been an absolute privilege to represent Trickbits on the top step of the podium.

Thank you, Alby Smith for the opportunity and the journey! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ

My only decent drive of the weekend tbh, but it was a good close race with Paul who drove perfectly without a mistake!

My Modelsport Vintage Masters Events winning Schumacher R/C Racing Cat 2000!

This car has been incredible since the first run I did with it at Mendip for Rd1 of the series. Back in 1994 my Dad was kind enough to buy one for me as our first ever brand new buggy so I had fond memories of it which came flooding back the second it hit the track.

Matthew Tunks has been instrumental in getting these cars dialled in and out in the first place but he's personally been extremely helpful to me and my team mate Paul, from fitting and setting up the FAB has given the car a great feel to it, and back in the old days this same system (known then as TDS) was always a favourite. After a few issues with the non standard diffs Matt also kindly built the diffs up for me from some SST steel outdrives I'd managed to source thanks to James Smith and with the JC Racing driveshafts this has been good now it's sorted.

Lee Martin RC even helped with the electronics which is always appreciated!!

I didn't hold back with the bling thanks to 1up Racing for all the purple aluminium bits, washers screws and turnbuckles and not to mention superb diff grease! I also had all the Schumacher purple alloy bits, most of the carbon apart from the chassis as I just haven't got around to fitting it yet.

The car is so easy to drive and when pushed hard it's very forgiving, I have really enjoyed all the different tracks we've been to and I've been so pleased with how it's performed.

Thanks to all that have helped on the car and getting it going as intended!

A first full season of Vintage racing and it's been absolutely MINT (to quote my favourite Geordie Ryan Clarke). I managed to win 2.5 of the 3 classes entered despite having some really close tight battles with young Rhys and Paul Mitchell all year so I was super happy with that.

The Modelsport Vintage Masters Events series has been so much fun and might actually be the best race series I've done in years for a lot of reasons, most of all being the competitive yet fair racing and respectful driving standards but also the social element and catching up and reminiscing with friends old and new about the hobby we all love!

My weekend wasn't the best result wise and I really struggled to get a good feeling of my cars despite trying every tyre I could think of and even switching 2wd cars throughout the day but it was great fun.

Actual overall championship results:

2wd Titan (94-99) - 1st (joint points with my pal Paul Mitchell)

4wd Titan (94-99) - 1st with my wonderful Cat 2000 being faultless all year!

4wd Ultra (modern re-re type class) - 1st with the fabulous Trickbits YZ10R

Huge thanks to everyone for putting these events on and I strongly urge any old racer or even newbies who may want to compete but not at the crazy high levels of modern stuff that this could be a brilliant series for you to get in on, it's laid back but still brilliant racing. Muz Schumacher being the time keeper has made them all that bit more special.

Massive thanks to all that helped me from Schumacher R/C Racing
1up Racing
Modelsport
Trickbits

Miklos szabados rc for all the videoing and social media photos, it's been so good of you to do that!

Most of all thanks to my beautiful Wife Natalie Goodall for supporting me and looking after me as always!

All the social stuff has been so good, I can't wait to do it again.
