Butokokan Judo Club

Butokokan Judo Club Butokokan Judo is a family club founded by Michael Douglass and ran by his Son and Daughter-in-law, Andrew & Rachael Douglass.

Our club has several fully qualified, insured and DBS checked coaches who all aim to deliver great sessions in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Judoka regularly return and improve upon their judo technical and competitive abilities, demonstrating this well in our gradings. As a club we try to put on as many events as possible, including competitions, courses, and Masterclasses with well known

, successful Judoka. Session days and times:
Ashington Leisure Centre
5 to 18 years old - Monday - 6pm to 7pm - £2.50

Newbiggin Sports Centre
5+ years old (including adults) - Tuesday - 6pm to 7pm - £2.50
5 to 11 years old - Saturday - 10am to 11am - £2.50
12 years old and over - Saturday - 10am to 11.30am - £3.00

We are a member of the British Judo Association, as well as the Bushido Zazen.

Thank you to all the members (past and present), coaches, volunteers and families who came together to celebrate 15 years of Butokokan Judo Club last night, after its relocation to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. 1️⃣5️⃣

We had a great night sharing stories, reminiscing, and speaking about future plans with you all. It was fantastic to see such a good turnout, with everyone leaving with a smile on their faces! 🥳
