Shinkikai Karate Club Free from politics & outdated thinking, we focus on growth, competition & community. Since then, the club has gone from strength to strength.

Shinkikai Dojo, led by Chief Instructor Shaun Cassidy with Chris Walsh, Andy Patton & James Cassidy, is a modern Shotokan club built on passion, respect & success. Shinkikai Dojo is a forward-thinking Shotokan karate club, dedicated to providing high-quality training in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our Chief Instructor, Shaun Cassidy, brings a wealth of experience and passion to the dojo, guiding students with a balance of discipline, encouragement, and technical skill. He is supported by Chris Walsh, our Assistant Chief Instructor, whose knowledge and commitment help shape the direction and growth of the club. Alongside them, Andy Patton and James Cassidy also play important supporting roles, ensuring that every student benefits from a well-rounded team of instructors. Shinkikai SKC was created by instructors who left Newark SKC after becoming disillusioned with the politics and outdated thinking that were holding back both students and the art itself. With a shared vision of progress, respect, and development, our instructors established Shinkikai Dojo as a fresh start – one focused on karate that is modern, relevant, and rooted in strong values. With growing numbers, an excellent training atmosphere, and a track record of competition success, Shinkikai SKC is establishing itself as a dojo to watch. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome, whether you are looking to build confidence, improve fitness, compete at a high level, or simply enjoy learning traditional karate in a positive setting. At Shinkikai Dojo, we believe karate should be free from politics, driven by passion, and open to everyone who wants to learn.

A massive congratulations to everyone who competed at the 6th HDKI International Cup in Japan.

But here at Shinkikai Dojo, this one feels particularly special. ❤️🥋

Our very own Chief Instructor, Sensei Shaun Cassidy, has only gone and done it…

Anyone who knows Shaun knows just how much karate means to him. We see week in, week out the passion, commitment and energy he brings to the dojo, always pushing himself while giving so much of his time and knowledge to help the rest of us improve.

To see him step onto the tatami in Japan and achieve this on the international stage makes us incredibly proud.

For all of us who train alongside him, learn from him and are lucky enough to call him our Sensei and friend, this is a very special moment.
