A quick tutorial on how to get your watch ‘race ready’ personally I love to do this for all events, it just helps me get super excited about upcoming events when I check the time. I’m sure other makes of watches are similar.

😎Friday 12 June. Scilly60% a 42km trail marathon covering 4 islands in one day.
😀Sunday 14th June. Scilly60 a 60km trail marathon covering all 5 inhabited islands in one day.
💪(Places are also available for the first Scilly110 though I doubt anyone is have enough to sign up to this event with 3 weeks to go!😂)

Last week we started the Scilly60 Events running calendar with the charity event: Scillonian Sprint. Check out this great video highlighting just some of this great day as runners travel over, take part in either the 8 or 17km event, before returning on the Scillonian all in one day!
The event raised £412 each for the scillywildlife and the Adam Mallon sports fund which supports young people taking part in sporting events.

Scillonian Sprint - what a day!

I will do a more detailed post in the next day or two, but for now, it was great to see so many people coming to Scilly for a day trip on the Isles of Scilly Travel Scillonian III to participate in the event!

It was also brilliant to see a good group of local runners take part and for many, their first Scilly60 event. As well as this, I have to do a big shout out to the local runners who are still at fiveislandsacademy! They may be young, but they really are strong!

The proceeds from this event will go towards the Adam Mallon sports fund to support young people on the islands in sport as well as scillywildlife who manage a lot of the land and protect the islands’ wildlife.

Great little video from the first Walk Scilly - 5 islands in one day event. Although incredibly blustery it really made for some spectacular sea scapes (though they are hard to convey on screen)
Due to the weather we changed the order of the islands and we started at 7 on St Agnes, before heading over to Tresco, Bryher, St Martin's before finishing with the long walk on St Mary's. It was a great day out.

18 years ago the weather was great, we were feeling good and my good friend Mike and I headed out for an after work climb.
The first climb went well, the second not so well. We are so lucky to have great emergency services that came to help us.
Many great things have happened since this big fall and from time to time I think back to how lucky I am to have fallen 40 ft and neither of us sustaining any permanent injuries. I still love climbing and have since climbed many of the existing routes and put up many first ascents all around Scilly.
In 2023 I had another fall, but this time it was great!
I fell into a lifestyle and job that I didn’t really know existed. In fact during the first Scilly60 someone called me an RD and I had to ask what that was, not knowing that people who organise events are often called a race directors! This latest fall has led me meet and share many great adventures with so many people and I can’t wait to share even more adventures over this coming season.
