*Nailsea & Tickenham FC Resignation from the Jewson Western Football League.*
*Chairman’s statement*
Dear All
It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I have to report that with immediate effect, Nailsea & Tickenham FC have resigned from the Jewson Western League.
The reasons behind this have been the ever decreasing financial situation and diminishing volunteer resource.
Our successes since entering the Western League just 3 and a half seasons ago both on and off the pitch have been amazing to say the least but have also taken its toll with such a rapid rise during this short time. The tough summer during the close season and complete rebuild following management, players and club officials moving on to pastures new, really took its toll, which after many years in the game, I know happens. I can honestly say, hand on heart, John and I have explored and exhausted every avenue possible to keep the club going, but there comes a time when you have to accept defeat and be honest with yourselves. I take this opportunity to say a huge thankyou John, your support and loyalty to me as Chairman has been incredible. To our wives, Helen and Sue, the same applies! To the wonderful volunteers who have gone that extra mile this season to keep the club running, a huge thanks to you all, it’s been a privilege!
I also want to take this opportunity to personally thank every person that was associated with the former club, Nailsea Town FC and the last ten years of the newly formed Nailsea & Tickenham FC, it’s been a fantastic 38 years of my life and I will never forget your support. You should all be very proud to have played your part as players, managers, supporters and the very best volunteers I have ever known.
My final thanks go to our manager Dennis Perry, your undying commitment this season, hard work and loyalty, witnessed first hand has been amazing and recognised by everyone at the club, to Josh our Physio, the same and also to all the players that have played a part this season in such tough circumstances.
There is still much to do now and I have no idea at this moment what the future holds but will wait for the dust to settle and see.
