Had a chat with about how this all began (link below) with my oldest pals helping me build a sauna inside a horsebox way back in 2022. So much has happened since then, at Roots & Rocks, and across the fast emerging UK sauna movement 🔥🔥🔥
We've had sauna with sound baths, breathwork, yoga retreats, solstice evenings, light filled mornings, high days and holidays and now we're popping up in 3 really wonderful locations, each with something different to offer.
Most importantly we have a small community who really share the love for this little local sauna - who come weekly, occasionally, or once in a blue moon. We’ve shared good heat and steam (löyly) when happy, sad, tired, stressed, injured, recovering, celebrating, grieving, alone, and with friends. We come for the physical benefits and stay for the emotional, for this is where the true power lies. Although it doesn’t really matter why - we're here, whatever, in all weathers and every season 🌦️
The grass roots sauna movement continues to thrive. Big business is also on it’s way, that's for sure. It's all good. The more the better. We need this medicine, this antidote, this liminal space.
Why do we sauna? Why do you?
Off-grid at Hardcastle Crags this weekend if you fancy it! Sauna with fire and spring water amongst the oaks, alders, rowan and birch trees.
Simple, rustic and beautiful 🌿
