The final weekend of league cricket, and it’s a big one ! On Saturday, The 1sts travel to Great Melton, the 2nds are in a promotion deciding game at home.

On Sunday, the Sunday side have a finals day at Dereham in the Ray Lusted Trophy.

Finally, on Monday, the Sunday side are playing in the final of the Challenge Cup at Sprowston. All support over the weekend is much appreciated!

Results from the weekend!

The 1s travelled to Snettisham and were put into bat. We only managed to set 136 after being bowled all out, C. Long with the only notable or score of 71 (135). Snettisham chased this total in 33 overs, just 1 wicket down.

The 2nd team hosted North Runcton in a top of the table clash. North Runcton batted first and set 176/7 after a good bowling/fielding performance from the lads. A. Palmer 3/54. In reply, we disappointingly fell 62 runs short after a collapse in the middle order. J. Norton 42 (55).

Mundford rocked up to Rocklands for the final league game knowing we needed the win to keep our title hopes alive.

Only problem… Rocklands hadn’t rocked up. 😂

After numerous messages and a brief concern we might be playing ourselves, they eventually arrived. Game on.

Lost the toss. Batting first.

And we absolutely went for it. Big hits, cheeky singles and just ONE wicket lost.

🏏 Mundford: 383–1.
Not bad. 😏

Into the field feeling VERY confident. Bowling was on point, we took a cracking catch, had a few how-did-that-not-hit?! moments and, most importantly, had an absolute laugh doing it.

Rocklands 308–1

WIN SECURED. JOB DONE. 🏏💪

Now we wait to see if it’s enough for the title… 👀🏆

Results from last weekend!

The 1s hosted in form Rocklands, who batted first and set a total 260. I. Woolmer 3/39. In reply, after Mundford got off to a decent start, Rocklands began to take regular wickets and eventually bowled us all out for 103. I. Woolmer 42 (61).

The 2nd team travelled to Grimston to play Snettisham. Snettisham won the toss and batted, setting 142 all out. K. Howes 4/27. A. Palmer 3/48. We managed to chase this in just 25 overs, 4 wickets down. K. Howes 39, M. Milner 36*. J. Moverley 20*.

The Sunday side travelled to Swanton Morley in the semi final of the Challenge cup. After winning the toss and batting first, mundford set a good total of 215/8. O. Long 89 (105). I. Woolmer 52 (100). Swanton Morley gave it a good go, but in the came up short by 26 runs. O. Long 3/20. I. Woolmer 3/27. Another great win for the Sunday side in the cup run that keeps going. Onto finals day on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August, be great to see as many as possible come and support in Sprowston!

Mundford ladies welcomed Gt Ellingham in their latest 100 league fixture, knowing a win would keep us in contention to take top spot in the league. Starting in field, Mundford demonstrated some outstanding work, proving once again the important contribution that each member of this squad makes, game after game. In what was their most outstanding performances to date, joint players of the match, Kelly and Gemma were a force to be reckoned with, claiming 5 wickets between them.
Mundford were just as impressive in bat, with all players contributing to a growing total, pair by pair. Top scorer was Jo with an impressive 36. Currently, joint top of the league with Bradenham, the final game of the season will be one to watch out for! Final score Gt Ellingham 288-5 Mundford 369-1
