Hi all!

Some were very wise last Thursday, missing what I can only describe as arctic conditions!!

Despite that, we finished the round, and the winning team was Andrew Slater, Steve Traynor, and Tony Peacock with a score of 76, with Andrew winning the best player with a remarkable 38 points!!

Nearest the pins were Graham Wooldridge ( not a bad start to his career with us...) and of course, Mr Slater!! That lot should comfortably fund his buying of the pints at Thorpeness this weekend!

Next week, it's a scramble format, first tee at 10.30. If you wish to play, let me know asap.

TUESDAY SOCIAL GOLF

Last week saw 13 brave souls (or foolish some may say!) , who fought the elements in the weekly social!

Given the weather the scoring was decent with David BUNN 19 and John RIDGEWAY 16 winning Divisions 1 and 2 respectively.

This week it is 3 clubs and a putter format on the back 9 holes so why not come and join the stalwarts in competition.

Remember, just pitch up between 1530 - 1800 hrs, get your card from the Bar area and enjoy your golf.

The food will return this week and Steve has promised his best Sausages, Egg, Beans and Chips for those who wish to partake. Let him know soonest so that he can ensure that he caters for you all.

‘Play your cards right’ will also return with the chance of winning the current Jackpot of £35.

All,

As I have mentioned before, I have spoken to Charlie regarding the possibility of some group training prior to our weekly events.

Negotiations have led to sessions being programmed in May between 0900-1000 each week starting on 9th May ( see below)

Cost will be £7 per head providing we have 8 people in each group.

I am sure that we can all benefit from this opportunity, but it is entirely up to you.

Below are the Sessions that Charlie has programmed for us and the responses that I have received so far.

Please let me know if you want to sign up for a session.

9th May - Pitching from 60 yards in

23rd May - Putting, start the ball online and speed control

A great day was had today at the inaugural “Shambles” format with the SAAGS members!!

Great weather, great comradery and some great golf ended with Tony, Michael, Neil and Alan G winning with a Best of 2 score of 112!!! Yes 112!,

Individual awards went to Kevin G for Pro’s Approach on the 9/18 and the nearest the pin on 7/16 went to ……?

Many thanks from me for everybody’s acceptance of this new format and hopefully we can play it again in the near future (Graham note!!!).

Thank you all and I hand back to Graham for next week’s event.

RESULTS FROM 03 FEBRUARY 2024

Great weather last Thursday at last!!

Some good golf, with Bernie, Alan G, Alan F and Sean coming first with a net 51.8 points! Well done!

Second were Kevin, Chris, Patrick and Rob with net 52.5 - again, well done!

No nearest pins this week, surprisingly! I shall keep the same ones for this coming week, as not that difficult (says he...)!

This week is a Singles Stableford, with 19 players so far.
